Wow.  The idea that Whiteface might be closed by March 15 - or that if it is it would make sense to book a vacation on Mt. Mansfield (which is probably less than 50 miles away) -  is completely ridiculous.  Do whatever you want but please don't do it based upon a # of assumptions which have absolutely ZERO chance of playing out.  There WILL be skiing at WF on March 15 and if you're there for four or five days there is a better than even chance (much better) that there will be some pretty decent skiing.  Where do you people come up with these ideas?  The internet makes me laugh.

Change of plan!

Looked at what it would cost to go to stowe for the same 3 days-YIKES! More then twice as much!

Knowing the fact that they still have some snowmaking left, and also looking at the models, looking like it's going to be colr in he next couple of weeks, figure we'll take a gamble and keep our reservation. Just have a gut feeling everything is going to turn out just fine. And if there's no skiing, then a perfect chance to start work on the winter 46!

Now only 5 weeks to pray for SNOW!

Thanks again for all of yorur replies.

Why gamble when you won't have any problem booking a week before you go? Maybe at a discount

Why not wait until your scheduled dates, see where it snows and just go. Wouldn't the extra coin be worth skiing on nice snow.

The extra coin is not chump change, its going to be $7-800 more for 3 days to go 50 miles away, not really sure how I can justify that.

Yes, a TR will defiantly be in the cards!

Again, thanks so much for the replies.

I wasn't advocating just Stowe. Go where it snows when the time is near. Whats with $ figure and miles. Shouldn't be more relative to a quality skiing experience.

Bad happens everywhere. Even the greatest mountain that ever was, Whiteface.

This is what happens on the interwebz when there's no snow. Skiers get grouchy and give each other shit.
