Saturday was going to be the best spring-skiing-of-the-slides day of the year with a forecast of clouds and chance of showers for Sunday. I had such a great day on Saturday that I would have been fine to skip a cloudy day of seconds...as it would have been so anti-climactic. So we partied hard around the bonfire Saturday night, celebrating the great day that was had in the blazing sun, skiing the slides of the highest ski area in NY with good friends.
Morning dawned and the sunshine in the skylight made me open my eyes at 7am. I looked out the window at Whiteface and saw clear blue sky in it's background. I rubbed my eyes to be sure I wasn't just imagining it...but it sure looked like it was going to be another nice day. The only thing that was cloudy was my head. I took the dogs out for a walk and found the air warmer than it was the previous morning. I put my boots on the boot dryer. People started to wake up. I made a pot of coffee, put the bacon on and scrambled the eggs. We revived and got out the door earlier than we had the day before. The corn was ripe and ready a full hour early. And we were blessed with another bluebird day of skiing the slides and other stuff at Whiteface. We started with the obligatory cruise down Essex and over to Chair 6 for a couple of big fast laps on Skyward and the slides were open by 10:30. We skied all 4 slides. Slide 3 was my favorite because of it's continuous lines that I skied smoother with each lap. The bumps were soft and explosive. Lookout Below, plenty steep with perfect corn |

Nice!
Sunday was really a nice surprise with sunny skies for most of the ski day. Got to agree that Slides 3 (and 4) are bigtime highlights. Plus Powerline and the bumps on Mackenzie. The pic of Rochester Mark coming through the rocky section on Slide 3 - I'm pretty sure that's the spot where the skier broke her leg on Saturday. Very cool that you (and your knee) were able to add this weekend on to the backend of your season.

I thought I had the perfect day Sunday until you put these pictures up...didn't even think to ski Lookout and I still never have. I was there for just Mackenzie and the slides...poked my head into 10th mt glades and high country too...the latter ran out of snow toward the bottom so it was...hmm back out to Mackenzie. Slides two and three were the highlights though...and after going nuts at Gore on Saturday...This may have been the best two day weekend of the year
