Dear Community:

Thank you all for your advice.  Our trip up was a lot of fun.  The conditions and lines were borderline terrible the first two days (we got to skip for some of that for 2hr lessons on first day); on the last day, no lines at all and best quality snow of the trip (12/31).  Conditions that day were good to marginal.

It was magical being out on Mirror Lake at night with the kids and another family after skiing.  I have only seen bits of the High Peaks and the Park, but it really is a treasure.  Whatever else politicians do not do correctly, at least NY has lots of preserved land.

It was also great to have fun on Mountain Run and have the feeling of skiing it properly in total control on my fourth ski day after meniscus and ACL surgical repair : )

Happy new year!

Nice Dom. You got the right attitude for the East.

Thanks Harv! And thanks for all you have done and do with this blog.   It is an awesome resource for anyone with an interest in skiing and makes some great ideas and locations accessible to all with an interest.
