will the apa allow WF to clean up that mess so its skable? Looks this is blocking all access to slide out from all 4 slides?
looks like the they will be wider but I'm concerned about snow being able to adhere to the freshly sheer rock. it will take some of the route finding out of #3 but I really liked slide

I was wondering the same thing and posted the question for Aaron on Facebook. When I spoke to Bruce McCulley this past season he mentioned that all trees CUT on the mountain for trails or glades can't leave the mountain, and have to be buried. Granted this is not the same thing, but it makes me wonder how restrictive the rules might be.
Very cool side by side comparison ScottyJack - thanks.

It looks like there are 5 slides now.
Does anybody know why all trees cut on the mountain can't leave the mountain?
"Slide out is not blocked, the pile of debris actually collected just below Slide out. (you can see that in the one photo taken from slide out) So at this point we don't see any need to clear it out.
We had a few other slides/washouts on the mountain but we are in the process of repairing them now.
Everything was very saturated, and Friday we received about 3" of rain causing the slide."

Thats a relief.

The bottom of Niagra has been an issue for some time - I'm wondering how that fared.
The bottom of Niagara slid some -nothing too dramatic. Other than that just smaller washes here and there. Most of the damage was near the base - the Lake Placid parking lot and the paid lot. Repairs are under way.

I wanted to share some images from the Whiteface Slides from late summer.
I climbed various Whiteface slides in September, immediately following Irene, and again 2 weeks later. For more photos and info on Whiteface of the slides, please feel free to enjoy this slideshow of images from 1 and 3. The full (long, detailed) trip report can be found here: Whiteface Ski Slides, Bananas Gone Ape Poo. Unfortunately, as the trip report outlines, I had to take over in guide mode from the point where slides 3 and 4 cross over. At which time the DSLR got tossed in the pack and the images ceased. Good news, the upper sections of the slides looked unchanged from years past. The lower section from May is actually nice and clean, perhaps from the heavy summer rains and Irene. Regardless, the new section of slide #3 is actually very clean and enjoyable to climb.
