Yeah, she's going through the normal progression of AT skiers: first try a setup that's basically alpine with a walk mode, then gradually ease into lighter stuff (tech, etc.). I tried to get her to jump right in with a dynafit setup, but that was too much change for her.
I thought these boots would be good because they have replaceable soles (if I did ever get her to switch to tech) and a wide last, but she seems to be in pain whenever she hikes. So these boots are going up on EBay, and we'll try again.
I might buy her a tech setup (bindings/boots) for her birthday, assuming I can put one more set of holes into these skis. Or I might just by her an NTN setup because then she'd be more inclined to ski more Tele whenever we ski BC and I can sell her old Tele stuff too (boot issues there as well).
Nice eye candy and motivation for us to get our act together. Was in Germany the last 8 days... On the plane now and seeing all these photos, is making me hope that the entire wither is good...
Nice day. I had to miss getting out - wanted to climb Colden from Tahawus but I got a call that a buddy needed help with a proposal due today. Didn't even make it out of the house but got a beautiful proposal written - will be worth some nice change next year if he gets it.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.
It's really a NY tradition at this point. It's high elevation and smooth so it just takes one modest snowfall to make it happen. As a nordic guy I have a different outlook too.
