Personally, my mindset is more in tune with skiing for as little as possible. Total dirtbag thesis.
That doesn't mean I'll dumpster dive for my equipment, but if the need be.......
I find it very difficult to rationalize paying $XX.XX for a lift ticket to carry me 400' up a molehill that I can skin up almost as fast. Faster if you factor in a liftline. Note that I change my tune pretty quickly if that same $ pays for 2K+ of vert that most of you on this forum have access to in your back yard.
Just some perspective from the glacially flattened Hinterlands.
