Just about settled on a house in Wilmington. Pretty excited but also very nervous.

Yep...it is exciting and nerve racking at the same time....good news is you bought in a great buyers market. You had me fooled for awhile...I didn't pick up on who you are....went back and looked at some of your older posts and it all makes sense now. Glad you're here.

I was up all night cursing the banking industry. the closing costs are ridiculous!! A 2,400 originator fee w/ the description, this fee is for getting you this loan!! Like the 100K plus in interests isn't enough for the banks. No wonder why people rob banks! They are crooks!!!!

We'll be three miles from WF. Can see Ester and WF from the back and side yard.
Old Craftsmen style built in 1935. Lots of character and just as much old house issues. But the price and location are great for us.

That's why, when Willie Sutton was asked why he robs banks, he replied "That's where the money is"
It seems like a pretty good racket. Borrow from the Government at 0%, lend at 5%, pocket the difference. |

yeah when you look at all the interest you pay on your mortage its hard to figure how banks lose money and need the govt. to bail them out.

Friends a couple houses down Springfield own shoreline, so that could be a portal. Trail riding involves falling. Like last night. It was a little dark, just past dusk and we were crossing the Roostercomb boardwalk over a beaver pond. Beaver's got it back up real good so the boardwalk is an inch or so under water. I lost track of the boardwalk and before I could get un-clipped I was off the side for a cold dip! Water was chest deep and cold!

Our house, heck our whole town in the flatlands is the same vintage (and older). Love the craftsman and bungalow styles. Sounds pretty scary to go into the water with feet clipped in. Old fashioned toe clips or the bike shoes that click in?

I was able to get unclipped and keep the bike up on the boardwalk so it stayed dry-er..
I've been in the water still clipped in though. Back when I was living in Grafton. Tried showing off to some girls hanging on the deck. went to ride out to them but went off the edge when I had to stop quick. Tried to unclip but couldn't. Went right into the lake. Worse thing was I could not get unclipped and had to stretch at the neck to keep my head above water. Also had to untie one shoe to keep from drowning. What a struggle... It was incredibly embarrassing...

Hehehe. Ah, that showing off thing tends to do that. I usually resist that urge because of those results, but not always. I was wheelie-ing my bike once showing off for my gal, (mtn bikes don't wheelie so good), flipped it over, landed on my pride. Hehehe.
Naturally, I tried to hop back up before anyone noticed but no such luck. The neighbor was driving by so of course he started beeping his horn and joined my gal and her son in a good laugh. None of them were the least concerned about the condition of my, um, er, pride. This is my first year with clipless pedals. I practiced in the yard and had one incident where I thought I had unclipping mastered, I tried to unclip as I stopped and.......... Well, you know what happened. Had to look fairly stupid/funny ( ok very) when I stopped and then sloooowly fell over. But hey, the shoe unclipped after I fell! Shoulda practiced more. A few dozen more falls like that and I woulda had it down! I losened up my clip and played with the cleat's position and it got easier. Thanks for the stories SJ and watch out for those beavers. Seems they got you.....twice. Enjoy your new home and HPD enjoy your new bike. New bikes are cool. Kinda like getting a new pair tenny runners or free milk from Stewart's. Woo Hoo!!! |
