A forum member sent me a note:

"I just ordered some new skis with some kind of graphic blemish (construction is fine) from Start Haus. Nordica Fire Arrow 80 for $399. I have seen them for as much as $999. Take a look, they have some great deals on Hell and Backs, Enforcers, Fuel, Steadfast - a lot of side and back country items."

I told him post it the the Gear Forum. He did.

Forum members bought six or eight pairs of skis that we know about. In a few days I heard from Greyson Howard of Start Haus:

"We're selling slightly blemished Nordica skis right now for crazy prices, and to thank the New York Ski Forum members who helped spread the word, we're giving away a pair of Nordica Steadfast skis!"

So here's the deal. We'll pick one winner from the list of Blog Subscribers.

The Nordica Steadfast is a great all mountain ski that likes to run, thanks to its powerful construction and great edge grip, it's equally at home ripping groomers as it is busting crud, or even hunting corn in the backcountry. I wood sure like a pair of these,,im not up on all the new skis  out there today.so I wood like some advise,my last pair of Nordica were the hell divers in a 178,i still use these skis and wood love something along those lines.i ski all over the mt,but play in the trees the most,so mayb something a little narrower under foot,but whatever I go with for the price I cant go wrong..if I can get a pair I like,seeing as I don't use a credit card,could u hold them till I get u a money order,witch will be sent out promply..

The Steadfast, Burner and Fuel would all be worth considering from the blem selection for your criteria, depending on what width you want.

Unfortunately we aren't set up to take money orders.

If I win these, I might actually have to learn to ski alpine...

This is QUITE the promotion, Harv. I wish I had known about starthaus before. Looks like a top notch place to buy skis from, so I just did that. Picked up a pair of the Steadfasts for my old man. $299 for brand new skis is a smokin deal.

As I suspected interested has picked up with the cooler weather so we're extending the deadline one week to 9/17.
