I have actually heard a few radio commercials for Plattekill believe it or not. On the Westchester/Hudson Valley oriented station but still... they're trying. Whenever I find out somebody else skis- another parent at a baseball practice for instance- I bring up Platty. Most people still have no idea it's there.

Another thing that is interesting to me is that I live among the largest high(er) population density area to Plattekill. Kingston being the next closest, but other direction. I consider myself to be relatively local to Plattekill. Even in Oneonta, the majority of people have no clue Plattekill exists, but have at least heard of Windham and Hunter, and most have heard of Belleayre. The majority of people around here opt to ski Belleayre because they think Plattekill is too challenging. Plattekill being the furthest away from the NY metro area should be making some attempt to market to the upstate market. There's actually quite a few people up here (including families) who ski but are going to the other three resorts because they have this misguided idea that Plattekill is too "core" and they won't fare well there.
I'll have to give them a little credit though. They had an ad running on an electronic bilboard in Stamford heading East on 23 that I saw on Saturday. It was really awesome to see. And it worked too. Although I was headed that way anyway, it made the place look more legit, and made me want to get there faster. Now everyone who is heading from CNY to Windham or Hunter will see it.

Some more details
Capacity will be 3000 pph. Highest in NY!! Usual detachable max speed of 1000 fpm and length of 5105 feet means a ride time of about 5 and a half minutes including time in the terminals. Combined cost of the lift and the new Axess RFID system is 6.5mil. 1.5mil less than what ORDA paid Doppelmayr alone for the Belleayre gondola.

Sno, check this out

Each chair also comes with a clear plastic storm-proof shield and a locking safety bar.“

Windham is closing for the season on April 1st and the F Lift starts coming down the day after. This means that they're doing that in-house and taking the parts down the hill via snow. Same thing that Mount Snow did when they pulled the Summit Local back in 2011.

Any chairs for sale there?
Sent from the driver's seat of my car while in motion.

I don't know if they're selling or scrapping the lift yet. If they're selling the lift then the chairs go with it. If they're scrapping the lift they auction the chairs.

April 1st seems early for them to close. Still gotta be a lot of snow

Windham does this every year. They have a preset closing in early April and they stick to it.

I'm well aware of that policy. They don't have the business to stay open later so they close. I've never seen them open later than the 1st Sunday in April. They're just using the lift project as reasoning for it.

Hey DB
Mt Peter was selling some old chairs last fall. Maybe reach out to them and see if they still have some

Sam's Chair was scrapped. I have some pictures of it ready to be hauled away but they made a huge stink about it when I posted them so I won't attempt to again.
I'm going to try and reach out to Windham and see what will be happening to F. I assume they're trying to sell it and they may hold onto it for future use. I don't know if they have any terrain expansions planned. I'll probably get to Windham for pictures sometime this summer. They're starting the project early (unlike Belleayre).

I knew you knew sno, just sharing for Louie. You think that lift has value for another mountain?

Sno, any possibility you can take the attitude down a notch? Thanks. |

I think it would work great at Plattekill or Magic. It's a good fit for Ethan's expansion idea at Plattekill or to replace Black at Magic. Question is do they have enough money? It's a 1983 been well maintained and has low hours due to not running much since 1993.

Sno, Mount Peter was selling their old chairs during thier preseason/Ski-barn sale last year, which was after your falling out with them. Do you have some info that they got rid of the chairs they didn’t sell or sold all of them or something else?

What's a fair price for that lift? What is it exactly?

I have no info on Mount Peter and won't be making any effort to find out.
Hunter had some old Z lift chairs for a while but I don't know if they still do. Killington has a bunch of Yan triple and quad chairs that came off Northeast Passage, South Ridge, and Devil's Fiddle. Maybe ask them? They won't be selling the chairs from the Snowdon Quad as they're being reused.

Hmmmm, that is odd cause you just now claimed to have definitive information on the issue.... I wonder what percentage of the rest of your posts are total bullshit also. I don’t know wether Mt Peter has any chairs left to sell but they were definitely selling them last fall. If DB is in the market, don’t you think it’s worth his time to make a phone call and check?
