Winter Weather 2014-2015

It's looking like another 4 to 6 in the High Peaks tonight.

I was looking at my Gore snow numbers. So far, IMO the HERO of this season is that snowfall from 12/10-12/11 that was so dense.  I think that is the correct event?  It got rained on and compressed to maybe 6 inches, but continues to protect us from snowsnakes etc...



...all across the northeast.

Plenty of moisture in the PNW, just not enough cold air.  Mostly rain below 6K

Just a heads up..Sunday will be the coldest day of the season..Temps will struggle to get above zero with a blowing gale..

Even though those big maps can't account for elevation... that's pretty dramatic.

I'd heard Jason say we were looking cold through end of the month...



Keep it coming, let's ride it as long as we can.

We just might pull that off..
And I'm sure March will be interesting..

Saw this data, the Adirondacks are actually a few inches below normal for snow pack. Sure doesn't feel like it and the quality is excellent.

Holy cow. SoAdk temp dropped 10 degrees in about 30 mins when the sun went down.

When I got to the cabin the weather station showed zero inside the cabin and -0 outside.

So much snow here two weeks. More on the ground in Warrensburg than NC.  But a wingplow shit ton up here.

There is a lot of snow and it is staying nice, it really hasn't consolidated in the woods. Great pow everywhere.
I just ran the Mount Mansfield numbers - 72" at the stake, poor Alta - 67".
There is over 6' on Mt Colden right now. But it is -6 on my front porch, got the wood stove running and a tumbler of Fireball Whiskey next to the easy chair. Life is good.

Yep, been noticing that my car is warmer on Sunny days and even got a little warmth through my house windows on Monday.

Spring skiing soon! Can't wait. Also, kind of heresy to say on the winter weather thread, but I'm really looking forward to mountain biking season this year, too.
