Headed out to Yosemite California for a little backcountry skiing. Thanks to Harv who lent me his gear for the trip. Scarpa T2s and K2 World Piste!
We arrived in Yosemite Valley to a panoramic sunset. All excited for the start of some winter magic.
Many waterfalls provided evidence of the abundant snow condition above them, many needed feet of snow for California. We anticipated our early rise heading into the mountains.
Perfect weather for the endeavor. Half way up the five mile trail perfect time to stop under the trees for lunch.
The final march was up Heartattack Hill to the Ostrander Hut beyond.
Arriving at the but before sunset short of breath and with sore feet, we were greeted by one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.
As the sun was setting we tried our hand at ice fishing for local trout. To our amazement we landed four beauties.
The next morning our excitement about freeheeled carving had us pushing our way past the exposure on our ascent up Horse Ridge.
After miles of carving on Horse Ridge, we end up back at the hut to relive our adventure.
Had a spectacular night under the stars.
Sharing breakfast with fellow skiers and snowshoers we bid our farewells to each other and Ostrander Hut.
