The WF gondola blows away the K1 Gondola at Killington in every way shape and form.  The Killington cabins do not have any padding and are also extremely cramped.  The Whiteface cabins are much more roomy.  The Whiteface Gondola is also longer, serves more vertical, and runs at 1,200 fpm vs 1,000.  Not to mention that the Whiteface Gondola has much better views than the K1 Gondola.

Maybe a separate forum for talking about lifts would do the trick

There isn't any lift on that list - in fact there isn't any lift in North America - worth even mentioning besides the MRG single. Maybe that poma lift at Hickory that serves the top.  Maybe.

Lifts are boring and utilitarian.  People who fetishize them are insane.

The vape pen has made choices of lifts much easier. No messy lighting rituals.

Bleh. Us snowboards say EFF MRG and their ski only policy. Ganjolas are extremely awesome, 420 blaze it!

Top of Beech is 5506 ft.  But the bottom is at 4675 ft so only 830 ft vertical . . . and about 100 skiable acres.  The town of Beech Mountain is at 5506 ft.  It is the highest incorporated town east of the Rockies.  You drive up to the town, then down towards the base of the mountain, and finally up to the parking lots if you get there early enough to park in walking distance of the base village.

Whiteface has over 3000 ft vertical since the summit is around 4650 ft and the base at 1220 ft from what I can tell.

The top of the summit quad at WF is only 4386 (below the bottom of Beech).  WF summit is a bit higher at 4867'.

It always amuses me when people in the NE point to Mt Washington as the highest point east of the Mississippi, they seem to forget about Mt Mitchell.

Mt Mitchell doesn't get a lot of love, the residents of NC refused to believe that Grandfather Mountain wasn't the tallest for some time.

OK.  I looked up the stats on SkiTown because that's quick and the tables are a consistent format.  Who knows where they get the numbers from.

According to Wikipedia, Mt. Mitchell is 6684 ft, Grandfather Mtn. is 5945 ft, and Mt. Washington is 6288 ft.
