cheap trick in the HOF

ml242
first off, the rock'n'roll hof is stupid. end of story.

that said, i'm kind of happy for those guys. they're a very good average band that was always slightly underrated for having a nice schtick and playing their instruments properly. didn't change the world. wrote some decent tunes. probably had to visit the clinic a few times because of groupies.

anyone a fan?

I was never a cheap trick fan, never disliked them but certainly never bought any of their music. You know, like back in the day when people actually bought music. To me they were more punkish rock than the rock I was in to at the time. Cool band and I'm glad they got in the HOF.

Meh.  Them and the Steve Miller Band getting into the HOF sorta cheapens it all for me.

HOF is a bit of a bad joke.  Some of these bands make it strictly because they had a few hits that were the background of the Baby Boomer's youth.

I had an 8 track in one of my trucks years ago but never knew they made a 8 track boom box. That's classic.

The Joker was always one of my fav's from them

The Pompatus of Love deserves to be in the HoF by itself

No shit! I never would've guessed that. The part that they stunk....Kurt being fucked up is totally believable tho. I've never seen them live.

live at budakahn was in the mix back in the 8th grade skate punk daze
funny cheap trick story, I spent a semester in rome and one night robin zander shows up at one of our favorite dive bars near the pantheon. he had sweats on and one of the tyler art school girls comes up behind and pants'd him. he just stands there droppin trou  and she checks him out and says" you're not hung like a rock star..." he just chuckled and pulled up his drawers like nothing happened. I guess that kind of thing happens all the time in that line of work

I'm a big Cheap Trick fan. While their discography is uneven, they've had numerous excellent albums and absolutely deserve to be inducted.

I thought that I had posted about my visit to the R&R HOF in late October, but apparently not. My favorite exhibit was the Alex Van Halen drum kit from the 1980 Women and Children First tour:

Like many things in life, the drum set was a lot smaller when you're standing next to it than when it seemed from the audience along with 10,000 screaming fans at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton.

Broome county arena was the place for concerts in the 80's still got some old tee shirts in the closet. Go to the concert , show off the tee at school the next day.
Want to spend special time with your children, teach them to ski or snowboard. The reward will be endless!

That was the only show I attended in Binghamton. Growing up in a suburb of Syracuse, most of my concerts were at the War Memorial or Landmark Theater, although we'd often take road trips to Rottenchester, Utica, and occasionally SPAC during the summer.

Ah, glory days.

The only time I saw cheap trick live was eating breakfast at the tick tock diner near MSG about 10 years ago or so. They were fabulous, groupies and everything. I'm happy they're being inducted, they deserve it.  They wrote some crashing hits.  I bet they go out partying with NWA and leave that sad ass Steve Miller band to their lax bros and geritol.

ELO is in, as well as Journey and Pearl Jam.

I still couldn't care less about the HOF but I like any excuse to play ELO.

I wonder if Trump can get a HOF-approved band to play his inauguration
