Dang, that guy is serious.
My friend and I were pretty serious PB player back in the day and wagered for beers. We formed a "doubles" team, meaning each of us on one flipper, versus anyone in the bar(s) who'd want to take us on. We cleaned up. At one point he and I considered entering a serious PB competition in Manhattan, but we ended up not competing. I repaired/restored and sold off most of my collection. Folks from may states rolled in with trucks and Uhaul trailers to buy their machine or machines of choice. I think at the height of my collection I had 25 machines. Not a huge number, but had them all over the place, in garages, basements, crawl spaces, and my bedroom! Wife was thrilled bout the one in the bedroom....NOT!
I worked worth a guy who collected "smalls"...fountain pens, watches, etc... He told me I was nuts owning 25 machines at one time. I told him it was all good...different strokes for different folks. I miss some of those machines now. All this went on before the days of Craigslist. I would see machines advertised on the Usenet (for those who remember the pre-browser command line days), on rec.games.pinball. Now I'm dating myself
