Just in case anyone needs convincing.  This woulda been way worse without a helmet.

On to the summertime helmet debate.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

I always wear mine mountain biking. Worked out well when I hit my head on a tree yesterday.

I never wear a helmet on the bike path. Just about as likely to hurt myself there as I am walking down the street.

I've always had the same position on helmets in summer as I do in winter: wear whatever safety equipment you want (helmets, spine protectors, gigantic rubber sumo suits), but don't make any judgements or talk down to people who make different choices on what safety equipment they wear. It's a personal choice.

Cycling or roller skiing?   ('Cause I'm guessing you do both...)

Either way, helmets can save your melon.

Pete,
I should have said that I hope you heal quickly.
After getting saved a few times on my road bike I always wear a helmet.

@ PeeTex, thanks. @ Telemark Dave: I was roller skiing at an easy pace uphill.  Hit a piece of debris, and bam, down I went. First time in 30 years that I fell and hit my head.  A silver dollar sized section of helmet got scuffed up, I'd be curious about what that translates to to head injuries.

@ Harv I'm fine.  But I don't mind admitting, when I went back out a few days later, I had to convince myself.
