Re: "There’s no refuting the fact that we have better skiing than New York"
It may have been pretty "douchey" of him to say, but if people are being objectively honest, I think it's pretty clear Vermont is better than Maine, New York, and New Hampshire in terms of overall ski quality etc...
Re: "There’s no refuting the fact that we have better skiing than New York"
As long as our mountains stay financially viable, let the masses head to Vermont. Friends of mine have a place at Stratton and don't even think of going there over holiday weeks. The crowds are overwhelming. I'd pick Gore/Whiteface over any of the lower Vermont ski areas for so many reasons. Not the least of which is the fact that I like to get away from crowds when I'm on vacation. In my view, the Gov's statement would only apply to Northern Vermont, if at all.
"There’s no refuting the fact that we have better skiing than New York and that we have better skiing than New Hampshire. Most of New Hampshire is practically in Boston where it’s more city-like than a rural state. We have better skiing than Maine." -VT Gov. Peter Shumlin
