Aspen to buy Interwest

Coach Z
Well I was right about Interwest getting bought but a new player rose up
Aspen has formed a partnership with the investment firm the owns Squaw / Alpine Meadows to buy Interwest for $1.5b

What ever this thing gets called is the 4th and I'd say last major force in the industry.  This is sort of the Mt Collective alliance I think so those others in that may go this way.

Of the other multi Mt operators Okemo and Peaks are now the next to sell possibly very soon.

Smuggs and a few other independents like Telluride also will get sold quickly.

Reading between the lines on the Press release.  Interwest areas will still be on Max pass next year but not following year.  Aspen and Squaw are both on Mt Collective so that is where those resorts will end up.

Huge hit to Max pass going forward.

Or, from the article you posted, it happened last year:

The sale of CNL Lifestyle’s remaining portfolio, announced in November 2016, comes 13 years after the specialty REIT was established for the purpose of investing in lifestyle-related, income-producing
But great job, Coach. We love your predictions around here.

No it was put on the market last fall
They were sold today
I edited the link to today's link

We don't love Matts snarkiness much around here.

Listen, this doesn't matter at all to anyone, but you're wrong. Within that article that you linked to, it links to Novembers article. Nobember's article starts like this.

CNL Lifestyle Sells Ski Resorts, Recreation Assets for $830M
by Gail Kalinoski Nov 04, 2016
The transaction is expected to close early in the second quarter of 2017.
They were sold in November, finalized today. Why act like they weren't?

Not at all! Just a general urge to establish basic facts so we can start discussions there.
