The Cheating Patriots

Why is everyone going after Belledick.  They should be going after the man that likes soft balls.  If a pitcher scuffed the ball he would be suspended, not the coach.  If a batter corked or put pine tar on his bat he would be suspended.  Brady deflated the balls to get a better grip, sorry buddy that's illegal. He should sit out the Super Bowl. It would have made no difference in the game but that is not the point.  He cheated and got caught, put him in the penalty box.

It's entertainment, no one cared when Mae West stuffed her bra. Tom Brady is cute don't you dare take him out of the game.  He's the only reason I'm watching.

I hate the Patriots, and think that they're all lousy cheaters.

But there aren't going to be any real consequences from this. Yes, Brady and Bellicheck should both be suspended. But the team will be fined, they'll lose a couple of draft picks, and everyone will just forget about it in a couple of months.

The whole thing seems suspiciously like a publicity ploy to generate more interest for the Super Bowl (like Richard Sherman last year, etc.).

Apparently 11 of their 12 balls were underinflated. Must be the 12th ball was for field goals....

It's only an example of widespread cheating in all sports where lots of money (or even not lots of money) provides an incentive.

A good commentary in today's newspaper:

Deflated State of Sportsmanship

What do you guys think of the punishment?

Is letting the air out of the ball twice as bad as beating your girlfriend?

One thing is for sure, no arguments now ... Joe Montana... best of all time.

On-the-field cheating vs. off-the-field criminality . . . apples and oranges. Both are bad, but only the former goes to the integrity of THE GAME. What gets me is that the Patriots would have won that game if Brady threw left-handed.

There was an argument that Brady is better than Montana? Really?

I thought Rice should have gotten a two-year suspension.

I think Brady should get one year, and team fined $5 million. The rest was good.

I thought Joe and Tom were compared because they both have four rings.

Admittedly, I come from a family of Patriot fans.  I grew up in Rhode Island.  Both my father and brother are die hard Pats fans.  I really don't follow football, but I did enjoy this documentary: League of Denial

After seeing what the NFL did to cover-up the overwhelming evidence of "brain injury" risks associated with the game, it would not surprise me if this entire scandal was fabricated.

C'mon now. There's  no way those balls got like that without some direction from him. Some ball boy did that on his own? All you had to see was 10 secs of that one interview and you could tell he was lying through his teeth

agree but with the report the punishment will never hold up.  The NFL spend a ton of money for that wishy washy report.

The fine isn't such a big deal. Along with the Brady suspension it actually saves them money. The fine is substantially less than what they now don't have to pay him for those 4 games
