Winter Weather 2017-2018

I guess today's event might not warrant its own thread but if you have observed snow totals around the east I say post them here.

Maybe it does......

Seems like the Daks and Greens could see 6, to as much as 12 (WF summit?) inches, through tomorrow.  Some ncp to be found at lower elevations during the day on Saturday but maybe a little wrap around snow at the end.  Not perfect but this could be a good event?

Not a good event for the Cats.

It’s been nuking all day at my house.  Sitting in the office and am jealous of my kid who is skiing now.

I still think moderate rain on Saturday to the Boarder..

I'm a pretty unsophisticated consumer of weather data but I'm looking at forecasts trying to decide between southern vt and gore or skipping completely or going Sunday- or maybe doing some thing crazy in order to make my way further north. What's the consensus? Saturday or Sunday and where's my lower chance of getting wet- and is it worth an extra hour or four to get further north?

Won't hold it against anybody if I get wet of course... looking for a best WAG

Thanks Jason. When I have to choose between Saturday and Sunday I have a very strong bias toward Saturday but this time I think waiting was the right call

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/...
Widespread moderate to heavy snowfall Christmas Eve night into
Christmas Day.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for late Sunday evening
into Monday afternoon for the western and southern Adirondacks,
Lake George Saratoga, southern Vermont and the northern
Berkshires. A winter weather advisory will likely be needed for
the rest of the forecast area for a moderate snowfall.

The bulk of the accumulations will occur by sunrise Christmas Day.
Total snow accumulation through Monday morning of 6 to 8 inches
are expected across the watch area: western and southern Adirondacks,
Lake George Saratoga, southern Vermont and the northern Berkshires.
A moderate snowfall of 4 to 6 inches is expected across the rest of the
forecast area with the exception of 2 to 4 inches across the
southeast most portion of the forecast into the southern
Dutchess and Litchfield counties where some warmer air works in
aloft resulting in a denser snow.


.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...

The next chance of snow arrives Friday night into Saturday, as
models are showing the potential for a complex storm system with a
primary cyclone approaching from the Great Lakes with secondary
cyclogenesis off the east coast. While the coastal storm may be too
far east for significant snowfall, the primary low could still bring
some accumulating snow. So will mention chance of snow either way.
Will continue monitor this potential snow event, as it is still
about a week away.

I’ve been in this house for 17 years are this afternoon was the iciest I’ve ever seen the county road into the acres.

Are potential totals being raised? Jason, Noreaster, etc what do you see?

I like 4 to 6 inches it's a quick mover, also need to watch how far east the lake effect snow makes it way Tuesday, could get lucky and add another couple of inches, either way Xmas and Tuesday look good, bottom drops out by Wednesday

Winter storm warnings for the Daks, with forecast from the Cats up for 4-8 inches, potentially more at elevation in the Daks.  Skiing should be good for those who get put the next few days!
