Winter Weather 2017-2018

This sounds promising for this weekend, hoping it materializes as I’m heading up to Whiteface for the weekend:

I’ve seen a few forecasts hint at a foot or more for the Daks Friday night through Saturday.  Fingers (and toes) crossed!

Jay Peak weather page says 15 inches Friday into Saturday.  That's where I'll be if it holds.

Open Snow has 6-14 in the Whiteface forecast, 5-12 Gore, 2-6 Plattekill.

Seems optimistic, but Mountain-Forecast currently showing upwards of 2 feet for the Daks, with 6 plus in the Cats after a later changeover Friday night.

Nope - asking if he’s gonna be up there cause I’ve skied with JTG before and was gonna see if he wanted to meet up. I may be skiing solo for part of the weekend after playing tour guide for a bit to my wife’s friends.

Open's is more realistic..

the new 12z gfs  brings a real mess...some heavy rain followed by some snow...and some high winds and cold...
it's still only tues so many more runs to go

No.  Our timeshare week starts the 19th this year, so we’ll be up that weekend.  Dealing with an ankle sprain, hoping I’ll be able to ski then.  If you plan to be up that weekend let me know!

Ha!  Wish I could.  Not saying I’m buying into a significant snow event....but it is a possibility.

Yeah, I figured.  Sometimes M-F gets it right, but often times they start very high and then come down.

I hope I am wrong but I am waving the white flag, looks like a disaster for the weekend, 1-3 inches of rain with very warm temps.  I expect to see a lot of brown at the ski slops on Sunday...along with ice.  I was going to drive north but I think I may cancel now.

after looking at the last 2 runs..I have to agree with NorEaster...This is a shit show

Sounds like a good description after 3 inches of rain.

It seems pretty rare in the NE that a sizable snow dump follows a warmup with rain. I do recall the April 18th 2007 storm that gave us 18" more or less of wet sloppy snow here in O-ville after a warm rainy saturday... just a freak event? It was a  spring storm so probably a different set of parameters but worthless since Gore had already closed.....

There is also a chance of an historic ice storm with up to 1 inch of freezing rain.  Either way it looks very messy.
