'16 Foliage Thread

How's the foliage up there? I see hints down here in Fairfield county. Any colors yet? Hopefully the semi drought hasn't hurt the annual show.

Seems late. Seems like we always saw some color by the last week in August.

I think the dry summer is going to have an effect.

Was on Hadley Mtn yesterday, from the fire tower there is nothing widespread, certainly patches here and there, some nice dry leaves on the trail, swamps are seeing some color.  Wont be long now, as you said drought will likely have a negative impact (again) this year.
The day begins...  Your mountain awaits.

'07 was the worst when I lived in Saratoga. Basically, no foliage at all. It changed in Mid October during a week of rain, and  then just fell. That summer was very hot and dry, much more than this one.

I had to drive over to Okemo yesterday and it seemed like VT is a little ahead of the Daks in colors particularly on the northern facing aspects.

Still all green here in CNY --- felt like fall yesterday and this morning tho, was a nice change. Won't be long and we'll be losing leaves.

I'm seeing colors in the Southern part of the High Peaks.

I'm somewhat stunned.

Near North Creek near 2000 feet: 80% green, some red orange and brown.  Some stuff can't decide to turn or die.

Following.  Going to be in Lake Placid Oct. 6-9.  Hoping to do better than last year when I was there about a week earlier.

Changing now here in CNY. Getting some reds, oranges, yellows,  and my white birch at home are dropping leaves. Almost the best time of year

I'm planning to head up Columbus Day weekend and am looking for a light to moderate hiking recommendation in the North Creek area to see some colors. I'm recovering from hernia surgery so nothing steep. Thanks.

Thanks for the pics from Owl's Head.  Will be up there later this week!  Last year I was about a week too early.
