I don't pay much attention to these things but I always find Snoweast the most interesting because of the ballot stuffing going on at places like Saddleback that 95% of New England skiers have probably never visited. The Snoweast annual survey speaks more about where the print magazine is distributed than any other survey, IMO.

I would like to personally thank the legions (?) of NYSB ballot stuffers who lobbied to get Plattekill on the ballot and then helped push it to 4th on the list of best mountains under 1100 feet of vert.

Curious to know what qualifies one as a "Classic Resort"?
It's funny how fallin' feels like flyin', even for a little while

These things are never real.  The magazine publisher needs to spread out things or never sell an ad in Pennsy or other small ski areas.

Even the marketing guy at Camelback can't think they are the #7 area in the east

Coming in August I will post the 2nd annual Nysb ski survey.  The Harv award is one of the most prestigious in the ski biz of course.  Compared to these other surveys this one is really for hard core skiers.

Bizarre overall list. I'm almost ashamed that Killington is #1, considering #3-10.

Funny. KMart access road being labelled a "village".

At least one building, maybe two or three, done in a sorta Bavarian/Tyrol look.

Love how "catagory" is spelled. Very professional...

And Saddleback #1 for grooming? That's a hoot. Do they even own a groomer?

Saddleback has a lot of groomed terrain. I would imagine they have to have a winch cat as well to hit the headwalls of the Kennebago trails. I make fun of it not because Saddleback doesn't have good grooming but rather that other places that more skiers have visited are more well known for grooming. Saddleback actually has some quality groomed terrain, I've enjoyed myself there when no natural snow trails were available.

Or... maybe the voters don't like grooming?

Coach z raises a good point on magazine distribution.  Hard to believe seven springs t- park is 10th.   They have 4.  Beginner, intermediate w rope tow, an "urban park"  all three of these are served by a HS six pak, then a big boy/gal monster park with x games competitive jumps, airbag (sometimes) and 24 foot super pipe.    In ski mag, Stratton usually ranks very high in grooming but ranked low here.  Its summer ski chatter, love it

Blue Mt in PA which I have never even heard of before seems over represented in the results.  They must be a big advertiser.

I think I looked at this magazine once.  It's filled with short articles that seem to be written by the ski areas marketing person and on the opposite page is a full page ad for the ski area the article is about.

uh bunch of ya's didn't really read the thread title - reader survey based on votes...  some mtns (like blue) look at this as a pretty good means of free advertising and campaign for votes through social media etc. nothing more / nothing less.
