I never said "better." I meant that Gore and Platte are your favorite NYS ski areas so it would've been logical given that you're the owner/founder/admin/funder and can make any exec decision you want. Of course, the WF trail outline is certainly more recognizable to most of us and makes sense.

For my own reasons, I've been begging Harv backchannel for years to create a logo, so I'm psyched that it's finally up and looks good.

That ^^ is what was required.  It was designed by a professional, and no (financial) payment was remitted. This is why it took so long. When you are asking for "free" you can't push for deadlines. (Same story with the forum).

A logo is essentially an icon, and Whiteface is surely iconic. The image captures fantastic terrain, both groomed and sidecountry. The slides are unique and inspiring.

I want our site and content — which you are a big part of — to be associated with those attributes.

Plattekill certainly has a fair share of real estate on NYSB.   And that is a great shot. No doubt Plattekill is a skier's mountain.

When I think about it, all the highlighted terrain in the header — Plunge, Cloudspin, Sky and The Slides — are New York State highlights. Two very different mountains, both NY Awesome.

Bonus point question:  Who is the legendary Catskills (and NY and VT) skier on Plunge in the big background hero image?

Double Bonus: Who took this shot? (Hint: if the photog were to post and take credit I would be so pumped!)

Triple: Why did Harv choose that shot as an NYSB icon, the only one, for several years?

Too bad that my two favorite NYS ski areas, Bobcat and Hickory, have both gone to that great lift shack in the sky.

There is truth to your answer on 3 but it is not the factor driving the decision.

Logo looks very good, that view of WF as you approach from Jay is classic. I recall the first time I saw it my thought was, "Wow, nature put a peek from the Rockies and stuck it in upstate NY".

I did not comment before because this is the first time I saw it on my computer. On my phone it does not size properly and so it cuts it off. All you get is the left half of the banner.

Great logo need one of those stitched on ski bag. Harv if you don’t have already, would make a nice tattoo  on arm for Spring skiing.

Peetex the site is super aggressive caching images.  I was having the same issue on mobile until I cleared my cache. I just cleared the SITE cache, LMK if that does it, if not then (please) you try to clear your phone's browser cache and tell me if that helps?

I took that shot in April of 2008.  My first blog post about Whiteface, my first attempt to ski at The Slides, my first ever visit to Whiteface.

It was actually my first view of Whiteface.  I was driving down the road and was like... WOAH!

I remember the first time we took Racer Ron to WF. Once we hit that view he was like NO effin way am I doing that. It was hilarious.

ScottSki is often one of the two guys in shots shralping midweek pow or post season corn in the Cats.
