Bearpen mountain for sale

While looking through Craig lists real estate I see to my surprise I can buy Bearpen and B.C. ski to my hearts delight. Now I just need to come with 8mil to buy the almost 700 acres of prime skiable terrain.

From what I read in the past about Bearpen Mtn. ... back in the day there was boundary disputes with adjoining landowner(s). So I wonder if there are clear boundaires and if that mountain was ever properly surveyed?

Let's see. If I had 8 million cash, I could just park it and take out 400,000 a year (a conservative cash out, btw), and, I could spend a season renting slopeside in the Rockies or in a cool Alpine village. Eating well. Hot tub on the deck. You know what I mean.

Awesome investment, just as ORDA is looking to sink up t $74 million in to Belleayre.

And I just closed on my property last month at the base of Bearpen.   Maybe I can finally have ski on ski off?

I have to check, but I think Bearpen was purchased by New York State in the 1990s to preserve as open space.

Well, that's interesting. Somebody may be in a pickle with the authorities.

The state is broke. Maybe a secret sale of land is what they need to pay for Belleayre.

Looks like the NE side of the mountain is private land all the way to the summit ridge.  The acreage for sale is about one square mile, which is consistent with this map.

So let's say an inspired person buys Bearpen.  They're smart and they build the business.  It becomes successful, but - I'm guessing here - not on the level of e.g. Hunter.  What's the exit strategy?  I see that as a real issue for some smaller ski areas, both alpine and xc.

Were did you read that the price dropped 2 million. I think all the people here should invest and buy Bearpen.
