Boarder purposely takes out skier

campgottagopee
I can't embed video (maybe someone else will) but here's the link.

Not looking to start a boarder vs. skier war, I don't see things that way. But, ANYONE who takes another person out on purpose really has some serious issues. What are we coming to that would make someone feel this is ok/funny to do. This totally eff'd up.

Lucky if it didn't break the skier's leg.

Seems like possibly they knew each other and it was an accident:

Good way to seriously injure your buddy.

It's hard to form any opinion on it without more information. I don't think anyone would intentionally to do that.

It's amazing how with all of that slope the one lone skier is like a tracking beacon for a falling snowboarder. I have seen that before. It's sort of like the old saying look at the spaces not the trees. It's like in fear of hitting that person they actually end up going straight for them.

My first day out with my daughter she was hit twice. Once by a skier and the other was a boarder. My first reaction was of course anger but in both instances it was an accident and apparently the look on my face was enough. The snowboarder looked like he was going to cry. In the end I sort of felt bad.

Oh and she was fine. If she was hurt I might have not been so nice.

The article says it was intentional, but it looked to me like he lost an edge.

Maybe he was being a semi-jerk, trying to scare the guy but not hit him and he screwed up?

They way he looks back at him seems to indicate concern.

I agree with Snowballs that skier could have been hurt way bad and was very lucky.

Guys - take look at the link I put up there - from that link it seems like they were friends and out together that day, and it was unintentional.

So not really clear imo what the truth is.

Interesting how this kid continually claims he was "punched". If he thinks that was a punch he's never been punched before. Obviously it was an open handed slap to the helmet......I don't have kids but I certainly can see where a parent would be extremely irate at someone taking their kid out. Heck I'd be pissed as hell if someone took one of my pups out. Might even result in a punch

This is exactly why skiers and boarders should be surrounded by orange netting, they should issue it when you buy your ticket.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

If that was my kid, I would be looking for the dad who thought he could lay his hands on my kid, so we could "talk" about it.

Bet he doesn't lay his hands on the kid if he is 6'4" 220 pounds!

I have my issues with snowboarders, but the video seems to support the kid that he did everything he could to avoid a collision and this kid came out of nowhere, from behind the dad.

You many not think it's a punch, but in a court of law Campy, he struck that kid and he had no right to.

I get that. My point was he was obviously coached as to what to say while on camera. All around touchy situation.

Coached?  I almost thought that was a deposition.

I've watched some responses to this video on other sites, where they point out that rather than check on his kid, dad of the year skies down to smack the snowboarder!

Incredible.

What fucking planet do you live on? The video clearly shows he was going way too fast in a beginner area, he almost takes out the first kid and then clocks the second.

Remember, the down hill skier always has the right of way - ALWAYS.

Now I don't support escalation as the amped up parent did, but the kid was at fault in the collisions.
