Pretty convincing evidence of a cougar in Newcomb. Seems someone caught it on a motion activated game camera. I'm no biologists but it looks like a big ass cat to me. Had o happen sooner or later. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Can I get a locals opinion?

Images to share? Would love to see.
I've definitely seen cat tracks in winter with a big old tail draggin in the snow. But never actually seen the big cat.

Btw harvey, is there a way to get the newest post at the top of my comments instead of the oldest posts being the first comments? I find myself scrolling to the last comment and if it is a hot topic that tends to be pages away.
Thanks, Scott |

First make sure you are understand Topics View: http://forum.nyskiblog.com/Forum-Guide-Topics-View-tp3370122.html Then read this to know how to go to the last post in a thread: http://forum.nyskiblog.com/Forum-Guide-Going-to-the-Last-Post-in-a-Thread-td3269695.html If you are doing both of those things, that's the best I got, at this moment.

Pic, with associated text from the Post-Star:
Between all of the sightings we hear about and the Department of Environmental Conservation confirmation in recent years that mountain lions do pass through our area from the north or west, there is no doubt that the big cats do frequent the Adirondacks. Whether there is a naturally occurring and/or breeding population of them here remains to be seen. I was forwarded a picture today that the sender said was shot in recent weeks by a trail cam on the Gooley Club property. I've seen a lot of fraud and hoax pictures over the years, but I know the person who sent it to me and this one seems to be legit. It appears to be a big cat, but doesn't look like a bobcat. Conclude what you may. -- Don Lehman ![]() http://poststar.com/blogs/adirondack_outdoors/mountain-lion-in-newcomb/article_40618886-2fa9-11e3-b31a-0019bb2963f4.html#comments **EDIT** Regardless of whether one believes the above photo is an actual a mountain lion, it is a fact that wild (as opposed to released or escaped pets) mountain lions at least pass through the Adirondacks: DEC confirms wild mountain lion in Lake George |

![]() twas pre J&J's, but you never know he also told me that the monster bucks on 11th mountain had one set of legs shorter than the other, so if you could get them running the right direction around the mountain they'd run right down into the barn.....could be true |

Just from the length of the cat I would agree---I've seen a few bobcats while out in the woods and all that I've seen have been pretty short---this appears to have a longish body |

There have been a couple of unconfirmed "sightings" in the Moreau State Park area recently too. Better get my trail cam out.

I dont think so. It is standing next to a crap maple, They dont get very big. The head is wrong, Its ears are sticking up where a big cat would be further back.. Bob cats can get to 45lbs. It looks like a big BC to me.
