I brewed up a batch of California Commons "steam style" beer today. It will be ready to drink in about a month...

"Mas Verde" by River Roost Brewing Company, White River Junction Vermont

River Roost is a one-man operation named by Beer Advocate as among the best new beer-makers in the U.S. in 2016.  The brewer worked for Magic Hat for five years (as it happens, alongside one of the Fiddlehead founders) before moving out on his own with some help from his mom and pop.

Mos Verde pours a hazy, soft amber.  Head disappeared quickly, but you can see lacing remnants in the pic.  A lot of grapefruit on the nose, some pine.  Tart, citrusy flavor, with nice carbonation and pleasant mouthfeel.  Mellow malt in the background, balanced by the hops.  Nice finish.  Might be better with a more session-like alcohol level, or even down into the 5s.  Still, a deliciously drinkable brew.  Recommended.

Keegan's Ales' Mother's Milk Stout- a nice creamy, flavorful stout. It goes great with Platty's chili. It's been my  go-to Plattekill lunch beverage but I've forgotten to take a pic til today

Looks like Platty could use a little of that $20 mil for pint glasses.

Matt, it's Monday night, I just had a Fresh Chester ale, a New Belgium Tangerine IPA, and Goose IPA. I think we have a drinking problem.

That is the perfect size for me at lunch time. Like Jason said, it's a two hour drive home. What Platty would do with 20 mil I can't even imagine

JTG4eva!

Interesting Belgian.  They call it a pale ale, but there ain't nothin' pale about it.  8.4%, decent flavor.  Felt stupid as shit using the wooden handle thingie....

Reminds me of going to Tiber Creek in DC when I was in college and law school.  You could order "a yard of beer" and it was a glass literally a yard long.  It had a similar contraption to hold the glass.  The challenge of finishing the bottom third of the beer without drenching yourself varied according to how many you had already had.

Great time at Taste of the Tri Lakes mini beer fest last night at Big Slide in LP
My top 3 beers
1 Big Slide / LPBP bourbon barrel aged UBU
2 AuSable Wayne Ligitski Pale Ale
3 Big Slide Ginger Sour

The Barrell aged Ubu is soon going to be available in wine sized bottles and at some craft beer bars around NYS on tap.  I don't normally drink ubu but this was amazing and also around 10% so powerful stuff.
