IMO implying that Gore and Whiteface don't think long and hard about how to spend snowmaking money is uniformed. (Or Killington for that matter.) That just doesn't make any sense. Every mountain tries to make the most of what they spend on electricity.
Last weekend Gore and Whiteface were able to open and some other mountains who made snow couldn't. What is the evaluation of those efforts? Not sure about WF, but Gore sold 1000 single day tickets over three days in addition to whatever food, lessons and rentals.
You may disagree with ORDAs evaluation of weather and business potential (both long and short term), but that doesn't equate to those GMs spending that money frivolously. That's just not reality. I know both Bruce and Mike and that is not who they are. These are guys who think as far ahead as is practical and try to put out the best, longest season they can.

... if you were gm at Gore would you blow the next four nights and open on Saturday?
This question still stands.
NWS lows for the next 7 days for Gore: 18, 11, 24, 30, 34, 26, 14.
I can only assume that Whiteface will be colder.
Good idea for a thread BTW.
