I know it's not cool to like the dead, but I just can't help it.

What's not to like about the Grateful Dead?  I don't listen to them as often as I used to, but the Dead are iconic.  There's a podcast out there called the Deadpod, this guy broadcasts entire Dead shows.  Strongly recommended.

All of my Dead was vinyl and is long gone. I have a only one GD disc ... it was an untitled album we called "Skeleton Roses."  It's in the car along with maybe 20 random discs, and it's definitely one I pull out on the way home from Plattekill.

BTW the Platty logo is Dead inspired.

So... I was hoping someone else would post their favorite driving tunes so I could expand my post Platty repertoire.

When the CD player in my car gets back to working:  "Burgers" by Hot Tuna is essential.  1969 - 1984 King Crimson is essential.  Crimson and the Dead are/were the only bands that engaged in spontaneous group improvisation.  If you're liking the Dead, check out the Allman Bros, Derek Trucks Band and Gov't Mule.  Guilty pleasure: the Hudson Valley public radio stations that broadcast classical music.  Necessary when driving to a race:  Social Distortion.

Hey Now, the Dead are still cool. Back in the day Jiminy Peak had night skiing discounts for nys skiers on tues night. The tape that was ALWAYS played going to the mountian was a New Years eve show from 1987. We wore that tape out!
Harv download a litte Dave Mattews Band. The live stuff jams pretty good imo.

Right on Warp---they're a talented group of guys.

Lonnie (lead singer) is on his way to the friggin Grammys!!! His first love is piano. He was the pianist for some dude who's up for a Grammy---can you believe that chit.

Johnny (lead guitarist) has had a pretty darn good run in the rock-n-roll game. He was lead singer and toured with Emir Hot, Royal Hunt, Badlands, Lynch Mob, LA Guns, Cozy Powell and Dave 'Rock" Feinstein. He's also sang with our local rock legend Ronnie James Dio
