There are a ton of slides in the Dacks and many are close to hiking trails. Combining hiking in the area and google earth and topo maps I will figure out what has the right aspect, the right pitch and a decent approach. I will then go hike/climb it in the off season and check out the terrain features. On the way in I am looking for potential glades where the trees are open and the underbrush is not too thick. I consider BC skiing a 12 month sport, 4 months of skiing and 8 months of prep and research.

Funny I am adding the same stuff. Getting the 90's to replace the 90's I have. The intuition liners from what I hear are awesome. I looked at the next page and saw your 84's. I forgot I even had those things... nice set up you have.
My fatties are Billy Goats that were mounted to far foward. Have to get that taken care of. I have no need to ski backward. When that happens its always ends badly. |
Yea, I totally dig those 84's for GP. Admittingly if I skied WF they wouldn't be the ski for me, I just can't stay on top of them there......just not man enough I guess. Those headwalls are just too steep and long for me to hold on, I get going WAY to fast and they're tons of work to hold back....I have a hard time skidding them, all they want to do is hook up and go!
So you're a fan of the 90's and not the 100's??? I'm 90% going with the 90's unless I change my mind...again.
We have this in common too. If my skis either leave the snow or turn backwards it is totally on accident and nothing good ever comes out of it. |
If you know who Theodore Cleaver is without looking him up on the internet, keep both skis on the ground.

Ok have to dive in here. The go to ski is the Rossi Pursuit for Gore and WF. Use a Rossi Experience 83 for the trees, so quick in the trees, but bites too much for speed on the front-side.
Picked up the Line Prophet 90s about 4 years ago but not enjoying them, sounds strange but best in the r**n or Sierra Slush in April. Foot of snow at Stowe, not the heavy snow, but could not turn them (I know, its technique). Anybody interested will sell cheap. 20-25 days max on them total. So - Rossi now has the Experience 100, and luv the comment on the 90 vs 100 - time to learn something new! Anyone else looking at the new Exp 100? |

I ran into a pair of these last year and was able to ski them for a couple of days at Gore after we had our big storms. The downer was that I had to use a demo binding that wobbled in the toe when I really pushed the skis. I am looking forward to trying them with a decent binding this year.
I also need to update my every day skis. I have a pair of Line Prophet 100s that have been just about beaten to death. They no longer make these but I am looking for something comparable. Maybe the Supernatural 100s?

Hoser, what length are the p90s and which model/graphics?
I have a pair of $40 beat to $%^& ones from the north creek gear exchange that I still have yet to mount, but maybe I should upgrade. |

locked up a pair of the 40th anniversary Mountaineer Voile Vector BC! Going w/ a tech binding, depending on how Fritshchi modifies their first run at the tech binding, I may go that route.
Got some long ass tours on the priority list for this season! It's time to go lite!

Hey Hoser - If ML didn't pick up those prophets I might be interested. Great advice on the BC guide peetex. I just ordered a copy as well. I actually didn't have a great experience with the intuition liners. More a factor of my boot design. The Technica OEM liner has a plastic piece built into the tongue with a small cut out at the top of the shin where it sort of slots in. That cut out digs in just the right (wrong) place after a while with the intuition liners. I ended up calling the shop that I bought the boots from and got a replacement pair of OEM liners. Like new. No new stoke for me this year unless I can pick up some used gear. Saving up for two kids in ski school. |
Minimal gear acquisition for me this year, but I did finally buy a new helmet to replace my vintage Boeri Kamelion (sp?)..
I went with the Giro Montane, mostly as Giros fit my head, and also it was the lightest one I tried on. The only other item calling out is - coincidently - some intuition liners. I'm just not sure in which style, wrap, or trad tonque.. I need to fill out some too wide for my feet Garmonts.. Thoughts? Td

I like the intuition wraps. They are harder to get on and off, but are super comfortable. I've only tried on the tongue model (in the new T1s I ordered) and while they go on and off easily they seemed to need some fiddling to get the tongue in the right spot. YMMV

Thanks Harv.
I think I'll try to score some of the wrap type, CoachZ's comments in his first post of this thread seem to confirm what I've also read..

The tongue style liners are a lower volume liner, so definitely not what you're looking for as far as filling up space goes. I got them specifically because I have a really wide forefoot and tall instep. Wrap is going to be better for sure.
|
Thanks Tbatt. Another confirmation that I should get the wraps. Nice to have consistent opinions and feedback before I spend my $.

woot! just pulled the trigger on some new line p90's need to mount 'em up with some px12's and i'll be good to go!
One last item - I bought a new shell only jacket at the end of last season so I guess I need a puffy vest or something underneath, any recommendations? I wanna go cheap so I can offset a day at steaux! |
