As much as it looks like crap outside right now, totally fogged in, we're going to the mountain.  Watching the forecast I'm wondering if this NorEaster is going to intensify?

My eyes are finally starting to relax.  We called it a day at 3:00 and that was about when my brain began ignoring signals from my optic nerves.  The snow was great, same conditions as yesterday but with a lot less folks on the mountain.  My favorite runs were Uncas and Lies.  I was on my Monoski today and it was holding an edge perfectly, especially on my stellar run down Uncas.

The fog was unforgiving from our first run up the AE2 to the bitter end.

Pic from the AE2 at 11:00

That's awesome. We need some mono-pics on here man. Between this and Ethan breaking out the big foots, I'm feeling like its 1995. There was a relatively big mono-ski contingent at Alpine when I worked there, along with a decent number of snow-bladers, which I always found funny cause they still banned boarders back then.

Q:  What's the hardest thing about learning to Snowblade?

A:  Telling your parents you're gay.

Jus' sayin'.  Ski you on the Hill.

So this weekend was my 1st up to ADK- usually I am down South in PA, or in WV.  Had SO much fun- the entire place was fun, we didn't hit any trail that wasn't worth a 2nd lap.  Hero snow all-around, held up really well especially Saturday.  We also ran thru the woods from the broken double, in our efforts to get back up top and keep lapping Lies- hit that 5ish times.  Loved Chattie about 4x over (even picking around the bare spots), Showcase, Quicksilver (closed out both days for us).  Hullabaloo, I mean everything skied wonderfully!  I can't say enough how much we enjoyed it all.  Great twisty trails, great scenery (fog notwithstanding), great old-school vibe all around.  We even hit the XC trails at the Bowl, loved the variety for a few km there.

Very impressed with the level and courtesy of every skier and boarder on the hill- very different than we expected.  I suppose Hunter/Windham, and then Southern VT, soak up the "stereotypical" NYC/LI/NJ skiers, leaving the ADKs for a different caliber? (full disclosure: I was raised on LI, and was one of those Jr High daytrip brats at Hunter in the 80s)

Thanks to all the locals for putting on the special "Gore Spring '17 sneak peak edition" for us!  And for putting the place an hour closer to us than Killington- well done :)

Did you really say that?
Yes, that 's how spoiled brats act when they don't get what they want. When I saw the race on the schedule, I laughed as I knew it would piss him off
Having the racers over on Echo worked really well IMO. Other than seeing the racers in the lodge you wouldn't have known they were there. While it would have been nice to ski Echo, everything else on the hill was so damn good I can't say I would have gone over there anyway. Having that caliber of a race at Gore is good for the mountain and the area. Loco you are really smart but you are also an idiot. Best two days of 2017 for me. Sick day tomorrow.

Echo, imo is a one and done trail anyway. Sure the top is good but the rest sucks outright. Sags is good though.

An inch of sleet followed by 4 inches of dense snow in the Crick. Still dumping and it's all snow at this point. If you are thinking about it do it. You won't be sorry.

Gore skied well until about 1, light rain in the afternoon. Freshies in all the usual places
