My buddy was sending me texts saying it was really good...wasn't sure what to think, given it looks like a bunch of slop in Saratoga.

I would say 6-8 inches...everything in play and maybe the best day in the last two years.  The snow was good dense base building snow. not mushy up top.

This is one thing I love about Gore. It doesn't (currently) take much snow to put stuff in play.

Yes, would agree that anything you wanted to be in play was in play.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

I'm in Louisiana on business but word from my team on the mountain was extremely positive.  My two boys reported that they were the first tracks down Lower Steilhang for the season today and it was good, as was the Dark Side Glade, Hippie and other marked and unmarked glades.

Just listening to the excitement in everyone's voice, realizing that after well over a year, they finally got to ski in the trees was uplifting!

Even with a late arrival to the mountain compliments of driveway carnage, poor visibility, and moisture saturation the report from all was a resounding thumbs up!

They're going back at it again tomorrow to mop up whatever goodies remain.

Lots of poaching yesterday. One of those days where Patrol seemed to look the other way. Not sure why Chatty was closed (maybe saving it for grooming) but I'm pretty sure I saw Glade Runner ducking a rope. It was evident by the no poles/totally in the back seat pose. I was with my kids so we stayed inside the ropes. They had a little trouble with the heavy snow. The north side trails were the best for them. One more good dump (or a few little ones) and everything will indeed be in play. Sagamore needs some more snow to open. They had the rat guns set up on the top stretch. Oddly there were a few patches of young pine trees growing up in the middle of that trail. I guess they will just knock em down when they groom. Guns were also going on Rumor. Would imagine it will be open by the weekend. Mountain is reporting another 3 inches overnight. They ought to be able to open more than 3 glades today. Way more snow up there then we got in Saratoga.

With this storm Gore exceeds last year's snow totals.

Glade Runner didn't ski Gore yesterday, so stop slandering him for his form, which is way better than what you guys give him credit for.

Do you really care how many days Glade has?  He doesn't brag about how many days he got.  Just posted lots of midweek trip reports and everyone slandered him.

I really don't want to get into a big argument trying to defend Glade from all of you.  Just pointing out that he wasn't at Gore yesterday and you shouldn't slander someone for their skiing ability when it wasn't even them you saw.

He and you get slandered because of the ridiculous things you both say and by the way you both are gapers. End of story, nothing to see here move along, this is a conditions page

And for those of you who went to Gore today, did we all enjoy the nice light pow that bonded so beautifully with yesterdays great base dump?! Skied some places today that we haven't been in a few years!

Today was freaking awesome.   Kudo's to Ski Patrol for opening Sagamore and the glades associated with it.  Most everything is in play.  It was like being in a powder dream and was one of the best days a long time.  It looks  like winter has finally retuned to these parts.  I skied glades today that I didn't even know existed.  Powder still be found in a few of the usual places.  The woodchucks were in deep today!!!

Sounds like I should have shortened the drive and hit Gore today instead of Whiteface.  WF was good, but not stellar.

Glades listed as open today - Boreas and MacIntyre - were closed. Glades that were open - Tahawus and Dark Side - were in great condition. So was Lower Steilhang. They're all listed as closed tomorrow. I'm about to have a Sno' tantrum.

From the Gore website:

"After a brief warmup on Thursday and a return to more winter-like temperatures on Friday, some trails and glades are closed temporarily- they will reopen over the coming days while the weather becomes more consistent."

Due to a hard freeze up? I know it got warm today but didn't think it got that warm. Also know it's going to get cold starting tonight but didn't think it got warm enough to mushify everything up there.

Did they get any of the rain showers that were passing through earlier in the day? Looks like everything has switched over to snow as of now.
