Gore is blowing snow on Thursday?

Saratogahalfday
"Look for guns setting up on Uncas, Ruby Run, Headwaters, Saddle Area, and the top of Bear Mountain, and snowmaking resuming Thursday night."

Is that the norm?

Not sure I understand the question?  Do you mean is it normal to blow after Presidents Week?

Did they ever cover Fairview this year? It's a special time when that trail is open.
I'll take boilerplate ice over wet snow any day

Yes
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

Funny thing about this season is December was actually pretty good, January was not great, but not bad, and February was pretty good. Then the last week of Feb we got hit with a blowtorch. I can still see the charred ground where the snow used to be.

Nice trail when it's covered, but hokey smokes. One time they had the guns on it for days. The trail was closed. They moved them all around and covered it good, edge to edge and deep. Closing bell, I poached it. Guns blasting, deep piles of snow everywhere. Seriously, not over estimating here.

" Wow, this will be great tomorrow! "

That night they groomed it. The next day, I hit it first chair and it was a solid sheet of ice wall to wall. Every friggin flake was gone ! Blown away. It was so pronounced as to be almost unbelievable. Very shocking.

Too bad it won't hold snow. Fun trail for sure.

Oh contrare Monfrair, it faces the northeast and skiers left gets loaded with natural spin drift and is an absolute blast to ski. Skiers right, the snowmaking side, is all ledge and that is why it won't hold snow there.
Gotta go to know

There's something about that trail that I like. Not sure what. Maybe it's because I haven't actually skied it since I think 2013 maybe 14. You're right though, every time I ski it it's a sheet of ice.

I'm probably going to get flamed for saying this, but I actually like skiing ice. It presents a unique challenge, and the sounds my skis make on it only increase my adrenaline.

Other people might flame you but not me. Tough conditions can add to the experience in my opinion. Perfect snow and sunshine are great but there's more to the sport then that, especially in New York.

So grant the man a sig, will ya ? Geeze, what's a peep gotta do to get a sig around here ?   Mine, just sorta disappeared...

Plenty cold enough to blow snow here, good snow at that. Local weather just said it's going to be the coldest spell of the winter yet.

Muy Bueno.

For snowboaders like me Fairview plays a critical role on the mountain as it provides an option other than the flat out of Ruby Run. I miss it when it's not open.

No, that's too good a lable, more like a Stalinist - if they don't follow the mantra - the end up dead or in Siberia or worse, forced to ski Mountain Creek with Snosnookie for the rest of thier lives.

For Gore, yes.  I worked at Greek Peak and Jiminy Peak between 2004-2011, and after Presidents Week, the guns were gone.  Making snow in March is like burning money.  It seems foolish to make a token amount of snow now that's either going to blow away, or melt within days.
