Holiday crowds

PeeTex
I had my Christmas south with the young'ns this year, drove back last night. The Northway was empty, I would usually see Mass-holes or New Joysee'ites with the Thules on top heading north, but the traffic seemed very light for the start of hell week. Wouldn't be surprised if they looked at the weather both past and future and said - cancel the reservations, let's go bowling. You think they are all going to stay home this year - would be tough on the local businesses?

Even though I am crowd averse, I sure hope they come - lots of people depending on the business.

I'm headed to Mountain Creek soon.  We'll see what happens there.  I am expecting it to either be empty or packed to the gills.  Today will be a beautiful day down here with full sunshine and temps in the 40's, but there no natural snow on the ground whatsoever, so the backyard effect will keep people home.  In 11-12, their opening day was the same date (12/26) and they had lines over half an hour on South Peak because only one chair was running.  We will see if that repeats this time around.  I can give some lift line photo updates.
That's cool. I want to see the pics.
14-15 Season:

11-22 Snow Ridge (opening day 35")          1-7 Snow Ridge (10")
11-28 Grand targhee                                  1-8 Telluride(12 inches)
11-30 jackson hole(10 inches)                      1-9 Whistler(12 inches)
                                                                  1-11 mt bactchelor(20 inches)
12-7 Vail(15 inches)                                      1-12 Mt baker(30 inches
12-10 Whistler(20 inches)
12-12 Whistler helisking(bottomless)
12-14 Big Sky(27 inches)
12-15 Mammoth(24 inches)
12-18 Kirkwood(50 inches)
12-21 Alta(37 inches)
12-22 Grand targhee(40 inches)
12-26 jackson hole(26 inches)
12-28 Chugatch backcountry(bottomless powder)

Doing Hunter tomorrow, most crowded day of the year. Hope I don't have to pull a Pow Assassin and karate chop anyone in the corral.

It was about 18 inches in the middle I would say.  The width was the issue.  Tomorrow could be a holiday nightmare with large crowds on very limited terrain.  We are really not having a good year down south.  DO NOT tell me to drive north.

Ok. Drive south.
Width of trail is becoming an issue because groomers are being forced to push snow horizontally to avoid dirt patches.

Mountain Creek was a WROD today.  No lines today, but that will probably change tomorrow.  They might blow a little snow tonight to start resurfacing terrain as long as it is cold enough.

Except you'd need Utah the wonder dog to pull you along. That's what SBR uses after TD tuckers out.
