What sponge? I'm talking about the initial application of mud through the 3 coats. No sponge involved there.
Jason mentioned the sponge technique.

It's anyone's guess. The market is insane right now, in part that's what spurred my new position.

Fleet sales, or rental cars, are huge for the  domestic manufacturers and they will most certainly feel the pinch. That said, as stated in the article, manufacturers have cut production big time so the pinch won't be as bad as it could be. Buying fleet cars is a very small part of our used car inventory. You have to have them. They're a good buy, covered under factory warranty, most are certified which extends the factory warranty, and typically rates are subvented.

On the wholesale end it's easier to lose money right now than it is to make it.

If their lenders force them to take their product to market by the masses it will go cheap.

Bottom line, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

I’ve mudded so much doing remodeling in my house that I’ve become pretty decent. It’s a feel that takes time for sure but once you get it you’ll find it enjoyable. I do 3 coats first coat heavy with small knife without leaving a mess. After it dries no need to sand, you just scrape with knife. Just get the high spots off. 2nd coat with next size knife over first coat let dry then scrape. 3rd biggest knife and I try to hit middle of of mud line on both sides. Let dry then sand, if done with the right pressure you should have minimal sanding and the wall will be something momma would be very happy with.

I had a guy work for me who didn't sand or sponge anything on a 180 12' board job. Guy was amazing.

I can't spend all morning looking for the URL, but I did read somewhere that shipments of new vehicles from overseas are backed up too.  Vessels waiting to enter port and unload.  Cargo volume is down in ports due to the pandemic.  FWIW, around me, I see dealerships that appear to have plenty of inventory.  This link is from February.

Due to manufactures shutting down production inbound inventory will be an issue. Used car prices will be up, big time. I spent 6 hrs bouncing between auctions only to buy 1 car ---- My numbers got blown out of the water today. LOL

It looks like a kid's ride on toy, with a handle so the adult could drag the screaming child along for some fun.  Now, of course, it would be made of plastic, with seat belts and side air bags.
