To this day I'll still print out a Mapquest whenever we take a trip --- my girl just shakes her head |

I always like looking at the atlas to verify. And to scope out short cuts. Sits within grabbing distance in my car. |

Google Assistant is amazing. Makes Siri look like she is low on the spectrum.

Ha I generally print a mapquest as well. Too many bad options via electronic routing. It’s another tool that m the case. Unfortunately the guy who gets towed off the snowmobile trail every year needs more ink in his printer.
Same with airline boarding passes. Had iPhone restart in too many non optimal locations. Once had an issue with login after. Wanted WiFi but only had cell service and it would not restart. Minimize risks! |

When I was a kid, I made a huge list of most every ski area in NY and New England. (There were a lot more areas back then). Some had 800 numbers for ski conditions; others just for reservations. I would call the reso line and play dumb and ask to be transferred to ski conditions, which was always on a tape recording back then. The Thursday newspapers used to have a ski condition section if I remember correctly too.

When I was a kid and living in a city, I used to buy smokes for my mother. She had written a handwritten note that my brother and I gave to the cashier at a family owned convenience store. I was 10 or 11. One note was good for years of trips to the store.
My grandparents in Vermont had a party line. Every time I lifted the receiver and heard dialogue I couldn't figure out WTF was going on.....I was about 12. Not too many party lines existed then. My dad had at least 2 cars that had the headlight switch by the driver's left foot. I remember a Super Bowl advert - I think for CompuServe - for the internet. First site I saw was a Seahawk fan site with pictures of moving vans pulling out of the driveway when the team threatened to leave Seattle. I was wowed at the medium, but the subject f'ing sucked.
Sent from the driver's seat of my car while in motion.

Of course you did. Making a long distance call was a big deal back then. Can’t be throwing away good money on long distance

My first car had that too! How else would you turn the high beams on? You want a hand/finger operated switch off the steering wheel or something? |

I much prefer a paper boarding pass. Typically also put boarding passes into the Apple Wallet but when I'm traveling and don't have easy access to a printer, I'll get a paper boarding pass when I check in at the airport. |

I can't believe no one has the cajones to put up this one.
Used to be if you wanted to see a neked lady, there were only a few ways. You'd go to a strip club... fail if you are a teenager. Convince a girl... fail... not easy. Or you'd steal a nudie magazine from your friends Grandpa's porn stash. Now, well, it's just... you know... all over. |

From college, I would call home "person to person" to myself. My parents would tell the operator that I was not there and would refuse the call. Then they would call me back.
its a beautiful thing

Ha, we used to do that too!

I had damn near 20 or 30 trail maps on my bedroom wall. My favorite thing was every fall we'd go get snowpants and ski gear at Princeton's in Hawthorne. I would take one of every brochure from the rack in the vestibule. Now it's just saved downloads of trail map in my phone.
I don't rip, I bomb.

I still use paper maps for the most part. Don't trust my phone if I'm going to be out for any significant time. I usually just turn the damn thing off and hope if I really do get hurt that it will work. Probably won't though. |

Haha! There were words?!? Seriously though. I remember being in my 20s and teenage kids were telling me about websites that were, ummm, pretty extensive, and free... I actually had no idea. Can't wait to see what my kids find! |
