That's in Celsius you know. Subzero in Celsius is much more tolerable than subzero Fahrenheit.

Does it tend to be windy/exposed? The temps don't scare me. My kids are hardened unlike Harvey They can deal with -10F. Its the -30 windchill that is a tough sell. It does help significantly that gore has a gondola on those kinds of days.

It wasn't really windy when I was there. They have a gondola that goes base to summit on the south side. Comfortable and very fast (1,200 fpm). I'm sure that's great on cold windy days.

Celsius? Freaking socialist.
I bet that's the average day time high though. You know as in it's that warm for about 15 minutes most days right around 1 in the afternoon. |

At -40 it's all the same. |
And you actually think it gets to -40 on a regular basis?

The winter before this one I bet it did.
One of the motivators to leave Jackson was the cold. Man that place is frigid! My last season there I basically was done by the first week in March. My body was destroyed from a hucking filled season. I washed a perc with a six pack every night for a month or two just so I could sleep. Both of my shoulders had torn/separated AC's so I couldn't lay on my sides which is what I prefer. We were to poor to crank the heat so I would take two or three hot showers a day to get warm. My girlfriend was stuck on the couch with a broken tib/fib. It was kind of rough. I'm not into the extreme cold any longer. |

Thanks for the heads up. I thought it was all the same DZ I'd don't actually recall how many of the trips had big wind, but it was there. I can recall 2 different trips where more than one got some frostbite, including one of the little guys. Man it was tough watching him balling his eyes out when we went inside and the warm up happened. There were trips that if you had any exposed skin you were getting frostbite. I recall one were it was minus F the entire length. We always had some fun, but never had what I would consider good snow in 6 trips. If you look at their yearly snow totals it isn't the most reliable place It was always the most cold trips we'd take and we never had a POW day. It turned into more of a social/partying trip because of the cold and meh conditions Edit. Feb temps this year http://climate.weather.gc.ca/climateData/dailydata_e.html?StationID=10868&timeframe=2&Year=2016&Month=2&cmdB1=Go Skip last years extremely cold Fed and check 2014 and the average temp for the month is 10F http://climate.weather.gc.ca/climateData/dailydata_e.html?StationID=10868&timeframe=2&cmdB1=Go&Year=2014&Month=2&cmdB1=Go |
^^This one has me scratching my head. You say it sucks, but you kept going back? 6 times!!?? As for the chart showing an average Feb low of -16C (+3 Farenheit)and average Feb high of -4C (25 Farenheit), it's within a few degrees of North Creek's averages (6F low, 29F high). If your kids can handle the cold Gore or VT dishes out, they'll handle Tremblant . Danzo, I think Tremblant would be a great destination for Feb break with the family. I'm sure you saw my trip report from this winter - we had great snow conditions, normal winter temps, and crowds were a non-issue. Mont Tremblant and the Laurentians arguably had the best conditions in the East this winter. Obviously YMMV, but you have to roll the dice a bit anywhere in the east, and IMO Tremblant's northerly location is a good hedge against a warm / rainy winter. As for crowds, what I've heard is that the two periods to avoid are Canadian spring break and Christmas. |
Trip really wasn't about the skiing. We had fun every time...........not due to the skiing Check the daily low differences. It's quite more than a couple degrees. Presidents week was kind of brutal with some -20's and -30 |

I'll put my resistance to cold temps up against anyone here.

Your Accuweather data does a good job illustrating the significant difference between conditions north of the St. Lawrence versus south of the St. Lawrence this winter. Tues Feb 16 is a great example: we had temps in the 20s with 16 inches of snow up at Tremblant, Gore (and everyone else south of the St. Lawrence) got a gully-washer and 52 degrees. The difference in the historical averages is far less dramatic however. For Feb 16 both Tremblant and North Creek have the same historical average high of 33F. Average lows are 3F (Tremblant) and 10F (North Creek). Colder, yes. "Guaranteed brutal" sub-zero, I think not. |

OK not guaranteed but 12 out of the 28 days in Feb were below zero. Some substantially colder than what is experienced around here. This is normal up there. Also the 1st week in March was a bit on the chilly side |

Enlighten me on what's being misinterpreted on there being some extremely cold days up there |
