And now they are trying to spread their wealth around to protect it. They are drug dealers. I would not be comfortable owning anything around them out of fear they are going to use the money for things other than the ski business.

Yes, it would seem like it might be a problem, having unscrupulous lying billionaires buying up the largest seasonal employers in specific, sometimes downtrodden, areas, but what do I know?

Unofficial, TGR posted this, here's another article:

https://www.law.com/thelegalintelligencer/2019/06/14/federal-jury-awards-injured-snowboarder-2-5m-in-lawsuit-against-ski-area/

On it's face, to me, it seems like a messed up decision.

Assuming there isn't a successful appeal, after legal bills, let's say he has $1.5M left at age 24.  With friends' hands out, new car maybe, dope/booze.....If his burn rate is, on average, $1000/day, he'll be broke by the time he's 28.

Good thing the Big Boulder plantiff doesn't go to Ischgl (14 of 'em and they don't close the trail):

I wonder if the Sacklers have offered him a case of Oxy for the pain?

Ha! I was trying to figure that one out, well played.

A lifetime commitment from the guy could help the Sacklers pay off the judgement.

Here is a better article  https://plaintiffsupport.com/2-5-million-verdict-awarded-to-man-injured-at-pa-ski-resort/  , I do notice that at Hunter when a trail is closed it is often by a simple one stick sign, easy to knock down or even not see. This is an unforced error, there should be better control over something like closing a trail. I say that with full acceptance of the dangers of skiing and snowboarding, but if you are going to allow night skiing and close a trail, especially for safety reasons make sure that the warning barrier stays up or get a more secure barrier, you are only asking for accidents and law suits. ps were the lights on on that trail , if not it is a bogus verdict, but if they were all the more reason to make sure the trail is sufficiently blocked and warned.
