Can't argue with that. |
And what about Chipotle? They've been investing heavily in new people moving technology. The burrito bowls are pretty big. And you rarely shit your pants after eating it. |

would you pick fast food over filet minion?
Skiing down South is eating at a rest area on the Thruway vs. fine dinning. They both put food in your stomach but the quality is not the same. WF and Gore are vastly superior skiing experiences compared to anything else in NYS and the NVT ski areas are in the same league as WF and Gore. And don't even get me started on Holiday Valley which is a bag of airline peanuts with a fancy lodge at the bottom by comparison. But in their defense you don't always have time or money for a fine dining experience so you eat / ski where ever is convenient. That's cool because it beats starving. But when you live where I do as I said you get spoiled by the quality.

Please define "skiing experience". |

I'll take a little slice of pizza or a couple street tacos over frozen food. |

That's quite funny. How about you post a picture each day of the quality in WF conditions thread |

Really? When I lived back East, we always went to Gore... I seem to remember many people up there refering to your home mountain as Ice Face? |

Right now we are open. I think Gore and WF are the only ones open in NYS right now.

Open=quality |

Haha, yeah. I have some friends who live at way better mountains than WF, and they can still appreciate smaller areas like Plattekill. They aren't "spoiled by the quality" at all... Coach just keeps digging. |
Pound for pound I think Plattekill is the best ski area in NYS. If it has the snow.
|
Not sure why everyone is piling on Coach.
It seems like what is is saying is that since he lives in the North Country - close to WF, Gore, not too far from Stowe, Sugarbush, Jay, that he doesn't feel compelled to drive south to ski at hills that are mostly smaller with less vert and in many cases less snow. I think I'd feel the same if I were him. It's sort of like how very few people from Colorado or Utah would fly east for a week skiing in Vermont. Maybe he offended some people by the way he said it. I don't think he intended to say small hills suck though - and I don't think he said that. And even if he did, who cares. Not everyone is going to like exactly the same thing. I think some of you got the estrogen pills mixed in with your viagra. |

I think it's raining here and there, makes people cranky.
I was trying to be funny originally by referring to Las Lenas and Portillo as good ski areas that are south of Glens Falls. I threw in Plattekill, cause I do that kind of chit. I think we are all largely in the same boat: distance/time, snow quality and terrain drive most or our decisions. We all tend to defend (and criticize) ski areas we call home too. Defend to outsiders, criticize among family. Lots of forum members had a lot of great days at {Ski Area Name*} and don't like hearing stereotyped negativity. *Hunter, Whiteface, Gore, Belleayre, Plattekill, etc, etc, etc

Agreed. It used to be Sno who received the brunt of this weird social dynamic. Even Dad kicked that can. Lately it's been Coach. |

This is legit. |
If you ski it top to bottom isn't a lot of that vert kind of flat at WF?
Just stoking the flame a little.... |

If you truly subscribe to this why do you spend most of your time on a tilted ice rink? |
