I take 17 to Roscoe (exit 94) and then follow some state roads up to and around Pepacton Resevoir to the Margaretville area and get on rt 30 there. Anybody else go this way?
Jason, that's ^^ the route we took on our Bobcat/Plattekill day four years ago. More scenic, no speed traps, timewise: it's about the same give or take.

The cops are stressy on 28.

many state troopers on this route?
I would say you. can expect the same level of enforcement on 17 that you find on 87, pretty safe but no promises

I agree. Going by my route there is a spot on rt 28 (coming from the other side) in margaretville where there is always a sheriffs car parked. It's empty most of the time but not always. I think it's 55 there anyway so I imagine they're just tirying to slow down the really bad speeders as they come into town.

Livingston Manor is where 5-0 hangs out on 17. Bottom of hill coming to exit.
After you leave Roscoe be aware going trough Rockland on 206.
I've been going that route since the 70's because my pop absolutely hated to pay tolls.
Another very scenic way is to take Frost Valley Rd which you catch off 55 out of Liberty.

On another note just got email from Platty. 110%open

It's funny, a lot of people say that. Ironically The section of 28 from Margaretteville to Oneonta (what I usually take, only I take a short cut before entering Margaretville) has a reputation in the area of being a free-for-all type of road.

I don't often venture down all the way, but IMO the whole stretch until you start entering the Kingston area is very scenic. It's also well maintained.

Shandaken is the town on 28 where the man hangs around.
Other than there its usually clear except for that car going 35 mph.

If I look at the webcam tomorrow and see the mountain's been rented out, I'm going to be devastated. I've been counting all week on skiing some untracked snow on Friday.

I believe the mountain is rented out each Thursday and Monday for all of Feb, at least. I am not 100% sure, but very confident on this.  When I was in the office on Jan 8, the calendar was all blocked off.

The unofficial networks story blew the doors off it.  Years past had 3 or 4 rentals, this year may be 10.

NYSB needs to be one of those rentals.

Maybe McCauley will get some lake effect love tomorrow and be worth the trip up there instead. Your blog post on the mountain has me champing at the bit to ski there on a powder day.

I think you can beat next the price increase for next year if you commit now.

Write a check to Plattekill for $2500 (I think) and send it to Laszlo.

Pick a day (I recommend Thursday for a better shot at pow.)

Then ask 50 people to send you a check for $50.

Or be a totally cool dude and make it free!

I'm in.
I have thought of holding some kind of  charity event. Maybe take like a $40 donation and anything over the $2500 goes to some worthy cause. Maybe even get some  sponsors to pony up the  initial 2500.
I don't know just thinking out loud.

I'd be willing to consider promoting it and lend the NYSB name to it depending on the details.

But I can't personally be on the hook for the money or recruiting skiers to cover the cost.

With the powhoundish nature of this group, I wonder... how many here would commit $50 now to ski on Feb 8 2018?

I could create a gofundme for the event, but you disabled all my links.
