Re: Plattekill Conditions

Awesome conditions today. Almost forgot how big the mountain skis when its all open. Enjoyed the soft bumps on Freefall and bushwhacking the top of blockbuster. The trees were definitely hairy, but i couldn't help myself a few times... nothing a little ptex cant fix.

Great day, cant wait to get after it again tomorrow.

Glad I went today. Was still plenty of untracked in the woods. Stuck to lower angle stuff on an older pair of skis and didn't do much damage. But had an awful lot of fun.
Rental groups by their nature aren't powder hounds.  They can leave lots of untracked snow around.

There's a  Jehovah group there today. I think i heard 700 people? Maybe it was 300? Heard the bar will do well too.
Yesterday there where still some lines in the woods.

The Jehovah group is the granddaddy, five years running. Each year they rebook at the end of the day for the same day next year, rain or shine, or snow. The vast majority of revenue from this event is not from the mountain rental itself.  Quite possibly Platty's biggest day of the year. In a year like last year, definitely the biggest.

I was late to the party today. Still fresh in the woods in the early afternoon, though you had to work harder to find it as the day went on.

They announced on FB it's going to be a Power Day.

It's watch the weather report in the morning though for potential wind threat if you're considering going.
Can we get SOME snow?  Please?

Somebody that's up today, please post if the precip is snow, sleet, light, heavy etc.... I'm dealing with freezing rain down here. I'm free to ski tomorrow but I haven't decided where.

I am hopefully going to Hunter tomorrow. Would go further, but I don't want to commit to a long drive in the snow especially since I'm not going to want to be on the road real early in this storm.  It's all snow Woodstream, and further East will have even more. Hunter may be a good option for you too,  Brownski.

Does anyone have any idea if Plattekill will accept an ISKINY Gold Pass on a Powder Daize?  The website says no coupons accepted, but this pass has no blackout dates (except private clubs Hunt Hollow and Holimont that don't accept it when open for members only).  No blackout dates confirmed on the gold pass website, so it would be a breach of the contract for Plattekill not to accept it tomorrow.

Is Plattekill going to be open tomorrow? They are going to have to get 12" since 4:15 PM this afteernon in order for it do be a Powder Daize. I doubt that will happen, but if it does, cool.

They've already called a powder daize for tomorrow.  Glade thinks he might go.
