Re: Plattekill Conditions

Marcski
It never really got much above freezing but the sun was out in the afternoon so some trails started to get a little heavier towards the end of the day...but there was still plenty of soft on the sides of trails.

Looks unlikely. I got some fence mending to do next weekend.

I was on the chair following, Chris was killing it. Very special and rare day at Plattekill. Unbelievable, 15" or so, cruchy underneath but blue bird day. A gift.

Cool. As long as he didn’t indicate it was an unpleasant experience.....hope we don’t get shot at!

I thought you meant in bounds.

I wouldn't go out on the ridge without Chris or Sean.

Chris can keep you out of trouble Sean can get you out of trouble.

Yeah, I wouldn’t go out where we were with Sean, but if the conditions are good I think I can play closer in without venturing into unfriendly territory!

Re: Plattekill Conditions

Ethan Snow
Conditions totally sucked this weekend. I mean I have so much shit to do and ski season should be over by now. Instead, what do I get? 15" of powder that we should have got in February and now I have to buy another lift ticket and ski yet another week. What the Fuck.

On the bright side, apparently this little guy isn't a grump like me.
I'll take boilerplate ice over wet snow any day

Wow, great conditions today.  What a bonus to ski boot top powder in the Catskills in April.  Groomed surfaces were sublime packed powder.  The cut up ungroomed didn’t suffer from the sun yesterday and was nice and soft, but maybe a little heavy.  Power through fun.  The trees were largely.....great.  The south facing trees off Powder Puff were crusty and boney from having baked in the sun yesterday.  Other aspects stayed soft and pretty light.  Noticeably better coverage on the Overlook side and out the ridge.  Cover did get a little thinner and started to get sticky the further down you worked, but it was so much fun.

Smiles had....many.  Bullets dodged?  Zero!

It was great skiing with you and your dad Mike!

Thanks - what a day!  Hadn't been here in 20 years...since I was a little kid.  Went up with my dad, who's last time here also 20 years ago (with me and my brother).  Boot deep pow in April, 2 days after storm - unbelievable.

Still smiling about Saturday. The first couple runs were sublime. The sun, the occasional face shot.
