And now there is that Mary Jane thing in Washington.

That puts Colorado high, ahem, on my list.

Jinxed it. Plus, it looks like we have to drive to Mt. Washington. (Not that I'm opposed to that, just that it's inconvenient)

Re: Powder stoke

endoftheline
Squaw is reporting they have had 14' (feet not inches) since late October, looking at having the whole mtn open by Sat 12/22. Expecting another 4-5' in the next 4 days. Now that they have the dual mtn pass w Alpine meadows they are talking 6000 acres of skiable terrain, before X-Mass. Guess I'll keep buying the lotto tickets. The east gets hard to take at times, especially looking out the window at a whopping half inch which doesn't even cover the grass yet. After last yr its really a downer, we can't possibly get skunked by Mother Nature 2 yrs in a row, can we?

I just got back from six ski days in SLC: four at Solitude, one at Alta, one at Brighton. We got close to four feet of snow while I was there. Here are a few shots from the final day at Solitude:

Ha. Looks great for here, but, I'll bet there's some Utah locals who brought out the rock skis.

Maybe I could live in SLC. Maybe.

I'm just glad I "retired" for 10 years in Colorado after college.  Now I'm playing catch up, but it was well worth it.

That's not "stoke", that's just bragging . . .

Nice score, though.

snow is finally on it's way. I haven't given up on winter in the east just yet. It is just beginning and the start has been slow. Only 3 days so far.

I'm hoping winter comes through here in the east, but if not, I will head out to SLC or BC at the end of Feb and I have a trip to Mammoth planned for early April.

I love the east , and my people are here. The winters have become disappointing, and with climate change, I just don't see it getting better. I will retire in 10 years and hope to spend a few months of the winters out west. We just have to accept that we aren't going to have snow in the yard like we used to.

Winter  Solstice - 6:12 AM 12/21/12.  Currently Mid-nite.

Visibility-limited, it's still dark.  Longest Day they say.

Measurable Snow- coating the hill, greasing the run-out. Supposed to change over by 3:00 AM.  I hope they're wrong.

Dusty Toys - clean off the tubes, find that damn sled, soap up the saucers we're going to town.

Start Me Up - down we go, lit by the fire for Ullr, just mind the ditch, you want to stick around, it's only just begun.

Ski/Ride/Slide - on your favorite hill, field, roof .  Repeat as necessary or desired.

Happy & Healthy Holidays To All

It was depressing at the base, but it snowed on top all day. Mt. Run chair opened today, mix of snow and sleet there. The snow was heavy, but good. Mt. Run, Thurway, Calamaty Lane...Lots of fun.

Keep the faith brother, all will be good.

You would have better luck finding the goat up here.
