Guys, I know I was talking shit about getting an Epic Pass, but I am salivating all over the M.A.X. Pass right about now:
$599, and 5 days each at : Sunday River, ME Sugarloaf, ME Killington, VT Stratton, VT Pico Mountain, VT Loon Mountain, NH Wachusset, MA Snowshoe, WV Mount Tremblant, QU Blue Mountain, ON Boyne Mountain, MI Boyne Highlands, MI Big Sky, MT Brighton, UT Solitude, UT Copper Mountain, CO Steamboat, CO Winter Park, CO Aleyska, AK Crystal Mountain, WA Summit at Snoqualmie, WA Cypress Mountain, BC Mt. Bachelor, OR Boreal Mountain, CA Lee Canyon, NV Is there a better pass than this in the northeast? Ski3 is $759, if you live an hour from one of these places you would want this, but holy crap look at all the places I can ride with the MAX Pass.. there are many places I want to try on the list. No majors on the west coast, but a couple of good north west mtns, and a few GREAT Colorado mountains. Epic pass is out, and MAX pass is in. The $49 early buy in seems to be popular across a few season passes. I'm getting a new car this year, so I won't be worried about the '01 Land Rover surviving trips longer than 30 miles. Which pass will you be buying this spring? |
That is definitely a tremendous value. In spite of all the crazy deals available out there, I'm leaning towards an old fasioned season pass at plattekill.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I'm seriously considering dumping my family's Gore/WF passes in favor of Max Passes + Mountain Collective passes. That combo would give me a huge number of day, weekend and week-long trip options for less money.

Lets post the details if we are talking about a new deal.
Mountain Collective $379 Early Season Deal: Each 2016-17 passholder will receive: 24 days total at The Collective destinations: 2 days at AltaSnowbird 2 days at Aspen Snowmass 2 days at Jackson Hole 2 days at Mammoth 2 days at Ski Banff/Lake Louise/Sunshine 2 days at Ski Queenstown/Coronet Peak/The Remarkables 2 days at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows 2 days at Stowe 2 days at Sun Valley 2 days at Taos 2 days at Thredbo 2 days at Whistler Blackcomb 50% off all additional days at The Collective destinations (*applies only to specific single day lift tickets for pass holder, see FAQs for more information/or contact our support team) Special Mountain Collective lodging deals NO BLACKOUT DATES Wow if you can get there, these are the best damn mountains in the world. Yes
Its a tough decision. I need to buy for a 14 and a 10 year old next year too. Whatever I do, its gonna be a big expense. I like getting around to different places but we all really like plattekill so I'm considering settling in there for a year. In a normal year, I'd be confident of making it pay but these crappy winters come in bunches some times.

Re: Mountain Collective. What makes it really attractive to me is that kids are in for $1. Our kids are 8 and 12. In addition, there's an early buy incentive that gives you one additional day at one of the destinations. We will probably do a trip out west, so I could use MC for 2 or 3 days at Alta/Bird and MaxPass for 2 or 3 at Solitude/Brighton. The 2 or 3 days on the MC at Stowe is icing on the cake. Hell, for my family to ski 3 days at Stowe alone it's well over the price of MC for the 4 of us.

I don't know much about stowe other than their season passes are approaching $2000 ! Is that a great Vermont mountain? |

There's an easy argument to be made that it is the best mountain in the Eastern US. |
Took the words right out of my mouth. |
re: Stowe - The trail map looks awesome. I have only been to Snow and Kton in Vermont so far. I'll have to check it out next year! Thinking hard about the MC pass too.....

Snow and Killington don't come close to the ski experience at Stowe. It's the classic quintessential eastern ski town imho.
|
Stowe is great. Definitely better than Mount Snow, but harder to get to as well. I'd say it's better than Killington as well since there aren't trail intersections every 10 feet. My favorite lift is the Sensation HSQ serving upper Spruce Peak. Never a line and serves long, sunny, cruising runs that have character.
I've lived in New York my entire life.

White steepled church and all, very quaint. Great terrain and BC.
Do have to say, though, that Placid is a better ski town. The whole pedestrian village thing (real, not IntraWest) beats the quaint Vermont vibe, IMHO. The ADKS have their own brand of charm, too.
We REALLY need a proper roll eyes emoji!!

Glad you got me thinking about this, I plan to take a lot more time next season and if I can hang out in the Rockies I'll be a happy camper. I am liking the Rocky Mountain Super +
