Old Greek Peak would go at least weekends into April if possible. It is to be seen if the NEW GP will operate as long as possible at the end of the season or be an early closer like Elk Mountain and Windham.
Big Al would never, never, never, ever allow Greek to close with a skiable trail. |

Holy crap, Camp and I agree on something! They have a great base on snowmaking trails - they will want to stay open as long as possible - economics of that might prove difficult though. |

Camp... Gotta give credit where due - Amazing how they opened on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, plus that Sat. & Sun. Also some guy told me he heard they are going to invest $1,000,000. per year into ski improvements for the next 6 years. I have a feeling it's gonna be way over 1 million per year. |
1 mill a year would be called basic upkeep or even neglect........ on a area with the expance of gp, has to be way more, as at 299 $ season pass and cheap tickets they bring in atlease 20mill a year befor payouts and such, base profit is atlease a mill befor upgrades ( not counting the slow vision express)
Owners skiers or not, a non buesness man would not use the line, "in the past the management gave the product away", and u don't buy a bankrupt resort becuse your just a skiier like the common person.... look at the two, their kinda like a john maines of elmira, their brilent business men( I'd asume by their worth), and will do what will keep greek peak a profitable business afair first and formost, maybe its staying open late or closing early ( sure this year they will stay open and test the waters)

I've never skied at Greek Peak, and I don't even read 90% of what's written on this forum about Greek Peak, but this post strikes me as one of the best examples of why armchair, would-be mountain managers should refrain from public displays of their ignorance. Horrendous grammar and mis-spellings aside (go ahead, blame your mobile device), what is the basis for $20 million gross revenue and $1 million net profit? I'll cite Gore and Whiteface as benchmarks, with skier visits in the 200K range and gross revenue in the $8 - $10 million range each. How does Greek do nearly 250% of Gore's revenue? Don't tell me "the hotel" without providing a linked, factual source for your numbers. Oy vey, everyone's an expert. |
Ok bad estiamte, so shot me, still the point is valid.
Also had to consider food

Shot me? Please, read what you've typed before hitting "post." What point? You expect a reader to discern a point from all of that unreadable jibberish? |
Everyone is saying the owners are just skiiers, which their not, the whole staying open later then elk idea may not happen if it won't make them more money
They are buisness men trying to make money And will do what will make the most money for the resort as a whole Assuming greek get 150k visitors at 58 $ average ticket 9 mill 50k night tickets at 30 $ 1.5 mill Lesson program kid camp at 600 $ and 200 kids 120k Season pass say 300 people- 100k Taverna food and a frame- 1.5mill Trax bar and grill- 1.5 mill Rentals-go low and say 2 mill (if 1/4 rent, this is debatable) Tubing/adventer center 1 mill Water park- 1 mill Lodge- (it lost money in the past acounting as a major factor for the chapter 11)- guess low on it-1 mill New time shares-(a guess) 15 at 20k-300k Total revenue would be somewhere near 15-20 mill befor deductions (number can be debated yes) As for the 1 mill coment, where the resort needs to be, that wouldn't be enough I would think 5 mill a year with the new snow making, new trails, new lift mt. Biking, and flood damage repair(could be yearly or rarely, gridly creek is a active mountian creek pron to flash floods)

Hold on. It's quite possible that the annual maintenance money is a separate figure from the 1 mill ski improvements money mentioned above. |
True,
Going by how ambitious they sounded in harveys email on the other greek thread, I'm thinking 3-5 mill a year, new lift on backside would be 1.5 mill if they go that road, also would need snowmaking on arcadian gate to do that project. Glades trail may go a volunteer route again like with labyrinth last year To be seen the 13th what their plan truly is but I feel it will cost more
