Skiers/Boarders Who Ride With Tunes - Need Your Input

This guy has been after me to put an advertisement up for his product.

I'm considering it, but I've never skied with music and wonder if it's any good.

Anyone care to check out the website and give an opinion?  Says it works with a helmet but I wonder...

It's neither of those things.  The company claims its product allows you to listen to music "and still hear traffic, conversations and your friends whining".  Kinda funny.

I've been riding with music for years with no problems.  Zero.  Zilch.  Just need to keep the sound down to hear road noise.  If I was in really busy, city traffic I wouldn't wear them at all but thankfully I never ride in those conditions.

90-95% of my road riding is done solo.  When riding with friends I usually don't have the music on but when by myself of course I do.  Music, pod casts, news.  They're great.  I never use it MTBing.

They're good for sking too but I usually ski with friends so I don't use them so much.  Too much fiddling around when people are trying to talk to you.  Maybe this new product would help with that.  Tunes on the slope arren't nearly as important to me as when I road ride though.  2-4 hours in the saddle talking to yourself is a long time.

i road ride, run and ski with music.  not rude and I dont listen to it loudly.  it doesnt drown out sounds any more than wind does.  Occassionally I cant hear someone when we stop, but I prefer that...I get annoyed with the stopping and talking.

I don't use tunes skiing or cycling.  I want to know when that semi or snowboarder is about to hit me from behind and my ears are my only clue to that.  Safety first!

i'm with scotty and coach.  i think they're dangerous in crowded conditions and why would you want to block out nature's music?

When I ski for fun I will often use music. I usually use ear buds these seem more like mountable speakers more appropriate for biking?  I still hear what is going on around me with them in.

It's neither of those things.  The company claims its product allows you to listen to music "and still hear traffic, conversations and your friends whining".  Kinda funny.
And McDonalds claims it's Happy Meals are healthy for you!!!

Whatever.  They're not dangerous to begin with if you use them responsibly.  Check your shoulder before changing your line and ski like everybody else is out to kill you which is exactly what you should be doing anyway.

I use them at the gym, but no where else. I'd like to use them road riding because I do get bored after awhile, but I'd be worried I wouldn't here what's coming up behind.

I tried it once on a road ride and got the crap scared out of me.

I admit I did ski with tunes out west when I was skiing by myself for a weekend when I was out there for business.   I would not do it in the East on narrower trails with traffic.

I ski w/tunes and totally dig it

my helmet has speakers built in with a nifty external volume control that is super easy to use even with gloves on

Turn it down on the lift for good convo/laughs, then crank it for the ride down

I like the earpad headphones in my Giros. Now, those are comfy.

I love them for chair rides, and, they are super handy for the gondola rides with loud assholes. The only time I like them for actually skiing is raggae on powder days.
