Re: Skiing, This Weekend, Anyone?

Plattekill
This post was updated on .
Its going to be soft and mushy and the snowmaking trails are still 2-4' deep with monster moguls.  The natural trails are fading but are still passable.  We may even get a light dusting of snow tonight as temps drop.  I am cordially inviting everyone for one last hurrah as this weekend will be our closing weekend and we plan to go out in style with a party and low cost food and beverages, spring rates and a huge sale in the shop.
Lift tickets this weekend at spring rates $25 on-line $30 at the window.
Please ski Plattekill while you can.  I heard that ORDA was just purchased in its entirety by Vail Associates and that they are looking at us.  You can read the press release right here on this website somewhere.

APRIL 1, 2014
Vail Resorts Buys ORDA for $1.2B

VAIL, CO – April 1, 2104: Vail Resorts Management Corporation (VRMC), the ski management giant, announced today that it has purchased New York’s Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) from the state of New York for $1.2 billion dollars in cash.

The sale includes all land and assets for Whiteface Mountain, in Wilmington, N.Y., Gore Mountain, in North Creek, N.Y., and Belleayre Ski Resort, in Highmount, N.Y.

I wouldn't mind checking out Jay's waterpark, just for the hell of it, but more likely will try to stay at the Snowshoe Lodge in Jay, $30 per night, five channels of snow on the TV. What are the chances of wifi there, slim to none?
Wifi is good at the Snowshoe, at least in the bar. Should reach upstairs.

Thanks for the kind words. Solo means lower level or risk. True north would be right out.

Skied Prospect Mt outside Bennington yesterday.  A fabulous day that might be my last for the year.  Still 100% coverage, but the places that get bare spots first will have them by next weekend.

My bride and I will be in Warrensburg this weekend visiting her carrot chomping boyfreinds. I plan to ski Sunday. Gore or Whiteface would be my choices. Can any of you northern folk tell which will be the better choice for probulary my last day this season, unless I make it to Tucks which is unlikely. Thanks

Last weekend of the year for me too.

Hitting Smuggler's Notch Saturday and Sunday.

Then Jay and possibly Stowe sometime next Tuesday through Friday.
Can we get SOME snow?  Please?

What are other people's plans?

I'd really like to get to Gore and/or Whiteface.  I haven't counted but I may not "break even" on my ORDA pass this year. (My wife not even close).

Plus I haven't been to Whiteface since 2012. Ugh.

Gonna  go the 240 miles and hit Gore again, Black Lodge was great for 50 bucks.

Gore for me Saturday for sure and maybe Sunday. Probably going to take off Friday too. Not sure where to go. MRG, Sugarbush or Whiteface. Leaning towards MRG or the bush.
