Continuing the tangent (sorry), the Lounge at the Whiteface Lodge is a good place to explore old fashioneds. They have a nice selection of bourbons/whiskeys, and will mix old fashioneds with different bitters. There is a section on their drink menu dedicated to old fashioneds.
Comfy place to have a drink (or three). They also have an apple infused bourbon that makes great sipping.
Post on the high quality Shirley Temples in the Mountain Creek Lodge dropping in 3, 2, 1...
I hope I'm doing both tomorrow. Not sure why the Slides haven't been open yet this week, but the warm temps tomorrow and Friday have got to help.....and then snow Friday night!
"Also they prevented a guy on rentals from going in stating its is an insurance issue."
Total load of shit. This is the easiest/lamest wave-off ever spouted by an authority figure. Just not true. Those patrollers are smart, surely they can do better than that.
I agree, stupid statements like " no rentals" create more liability exposure than limit it. Rental use should be a clue to the decision, not the only factor.
That said WF can surely limit where their skis can go. But that better be spelled out before rental. No park use, no use in slide pod. Hate lawsuits but I would demand rental and ticket refund if some balllesspowerhungry patroller tried rejecting me wo proper legally founded cause.
