Just got an email:

"With better than expected snowmaking conditions and a good helping of natural snow Whiteface will be opening its doors and swinging chairs starting this Friday, November 15th.  This will be the earliest opening of the Olympic Mountain EVER and to celebrate we'll be offering our best lift ticket rates of the season! "

Enjoy my WF friends ---- I'll look for some reports when I get back to civilization on the 25th

Re: Snowmaking

Let me give you the report right now.

Excelsior skied like it always does; it was really twisty and stuff and no steeper than it was last year.  Upper Valley was sort of boring, skier's left was the place to be.  Warm temps led to soft, spring like conditions.  Tower Ten Hill started to bump up a bit at the end.  The beer was cold.  All my friends are still stupid.  Boy are my legs tired.

Well, that is a first... Gov's office announcing the openings.  I have a feeling we are going to see Cuomo on skis at one of the mountains this year.

Hunter's webcam shows some depth to the snow piles.  That means after this warm up they won't loose much snow.  Temps will drop next week on Monday/Tuesday and there will be possibly another 48 hours of snowmaking.  Looking good for weekend of 11/23, 11/24.

If it's all gone on Monday, I bet it's more than $10k.

I sensed a disturbance in the force.

It takes some slight of hand to change a forum members name.

Let me know if that is something you require.

Snowmaking has resumed at Hunter.  They are shooting for Thanksgiving weekend.  Temps will plummet next week and they should pull it off no problem.

By Turkey day they should have at least 30% of the mountain open. Great snowmaking temps from Sunday on.
