Snowmaking 2013-14

Started today at WF at noon.Top of Excelsior down to mid. Oh boy..Oh boy..oh boy.

I can see a ground gun out in Hunter's webcam.  Not started yet but possibly very soon.  I am praying to the snow gods for an 11/16 opening.

Tomorrow morning Hunter will get the temperatures.  I won't be able to sleep tonight.  I really really really want them to start snowmaking.

I'm having a hard time believe Hunter is going for it with the forecast:



Did they say they were going to go for it on Facebook or the website? I missed it.

Hunter loves to blow and they don't blow for show.

In my experience Hunter rarely notifies you that they will blow snow unless it is very late that they are starting.  They will get at least 48 hours in a row of continuous snowmaking temperatures according to weather.com starting Tuesday morning and lasting until Thursday morning.  They will also get Thursday and Friday night.  This could be enough for an opening on 11/16.  After that it looks pertty bad for a couple of days, but at the end of the 10 day forecast it will get colder again.  The thaw that there is doesn't look to be as bad as some January/February thaws that we have had.  Also I see multiple ground guns out in the webcam.  I don't think that they would set them up unless they were planning to blow.  This is why I think/hope that they will blow some snow.

Hunter will not be making snow, maybe a test. The long range and medium range are down right warm..This is my 35th season skiing Hunter. I can't recall a opening that was 2 weeks before Thanksgiving..

I'll eat my crow with Jason.Very surprised. Especially after last year.  The last two years really.

Got to say that it doesn't really make sense in the strict definition of the word.  Hunter has proven that they can open the entire mountain in 9 days.

If they are blowing to open, it's a bit out of  character for them..
I guess we will find out in the morning..

i don't get it..temps are forecast to get close to 50+ over the weekend..

WF is cranking out the manAmade.  Temps perfect for the next 60 hours!  I know what that means!!!  Yo FHW can I get a big WOOT WOOT!

I'm gonna be ready for this weekend just in case our beloved is.....

They will open if they can...they wont call it til Thursday afternoon probably.  Regardless I am ready and I will be skiing down that mountain on my own power if nothing else.

You guys gotta listen to me... haha..  I get drunk at the Kaaterskill club all the time..  :)  I hear things and know people...   haha..

Hunter is going to make as much snow as they can during this window.. Guns were tested a month ago..
Next week the temps are supposed to drop and they are going to go full hilt...   Right now it's from the B up to summit...

I can see a gun out on Kennedy now.  Hunter is making snow down to the base now.
